MYBA Fast Pitch Softball 2016 Ponytails Division League Rules 1. General Rules 1.1. Games played during the first 3 weeks will be scrimmages. 1.1.1. We will not keep score. 1.1.2. Tees will be permitted 1.2. Games played beginning in the 4th week will be regulation games. 1.2.1. We will keep score. 1.2.2. Tees will not be permitted. 1.3. Length of Play: 1.3.1. No new innings will begin after 1 hour 20 minutes from game start. If the 1:20 mark occurs during an inning, the inning will be finished. Games will not be called in the middle of an inning due to time. 1.3.2. A 4-run limit will be in effect for all innings except any innings starting after 1 hour when there will be no run limit. 1.3.2.1. Unlimited innings will require 3 outs to be made by the team in the field. 1.3.2.2. Games played during the first 3 weeks will have a 4 run limit for all innings. 1.3.3. Tournament games that are tied after 1 hour 20 minutes will use the international tie rule for extra innings. 1.3.3.1. Last player who was out in previous inning starts at 2nd base. 1.3.3.2. The inning will be required to be played until 3 outs have been made. 1.3.3.3. Tournament games will be played until a team has a higher score at the bottom of an inning. 1.3.3.4. League games will end in a tie. 1.4. Each inning will consist of 3 outs. 1.5. All players play in the field. No one sits the bench. 1.5.1. Teams will be limited to one additional infielder and remainder added to outfield. 1.5.1. A player arriving late must be added to the bottom of the batting order. 1.5.2. Outfielders must remain on outfield grass, or 15ft behind the bases and base paths on the fields with deep infields, until after the ball is hit. 1.6. An 11-inch soft core/flexi-ball will be used. 2. Pitching 2.1. Pitchers may not pitch more than two innings in a single game. 2.1.1. Pitchers will be allowed 8 warm-up pitches between innings if it is their first appearance that game. Pitchers returning to pitch a second inning will be allowed 4 warm-up pitches. 2.2. Pitchers are encouraged to use the windmill style of pitching. 2.3. Pitchers must field their position (within pitcher’s circle) when the coach is pitching.

2.4. Pitchers must maintain contact with the pitching rubber until the ball is released 2.4.1. Crow hops will be called. 2.4.2. First occurrence for each pitcher will result in a warning issued to the pitcher and called a dead ball (no strike or ball) if not hit by the batter. 2.4.3. Subsequent occurrences will be called an illegal pitch and the batter awarded a ball 2.5. Pitching mound will be 35 feet from home plate. 2.6. Coaches must pitch from within pitcher’s circle. 3. Hitting 3.1. Each player will be put in the batting rotation. 3.2. Bunting will not be allowed during games. 3.3. No walks will be allowed. If a pitcher throws three balls to a batter, coach has the choice of having a coach pitch or having a tee brought in and the batter will finish the count that way. For example, if the count is 3-1, the batter will have two chances to hit the ball off the tee or have two strikes called from the coach pitcher. 3.4. Batters cannot foul out unless the ball is caught by a fielder. 3.5. Batters can strike out. When using a tee, if the batter strikes the tee instead of the ball it will be called a strike. 3.6. Batters cannot strike out on a called 3rd strike from the coach pitcher. If a girl is not swinging at pitches then time should be called for coach to tell her to swing at strikes or a tee should be used. 3.7. Should a batter be hit by a pitch while in the batters’ box, the pitch will be called a ball but the batter will NOT advance to first base. 3.8. Hitting off the tee will not be permitted beginning in the 4th week of the season or the season ending league tournament. 3.9. A team will receive one warning by the umpire if a player throws the bat. Any future player on the team that was warned will be out. 4. Base running 4.1. No stealing will be allowed 4.2. Base runner may lead off after the ball leaves the pitcher's hand 4.2.1. A warning will be given if the runner leaves early 4.2.2. A second offense for the team will result in the runner being called out. 4.2.3. The runner may be put out on a throw from the catcher after leading off. 4.2.4. The base runner may not advance on a throw from the catcher if the ball is overthrown or misplayed by the defense. 4.3. A base runner at 3rd base cannot advance to home plate on a dropped or passed ball. 4.4. On a dropped third strike, the batter is out. The batter may not attempt to go to first base. 4.5. Runners will not advance on overthrows by fielders.

4.6. Changed, 2015. 4.7. On balls hit into the outfield, the runners may advance until the ball is thrown back to the infield itself. The ball does not need to be possessed by an infielder to hold baserunners. Runners may continue on to the next base if they are more than halfway to that base. If less than half way to the next base the runner must return to previous base. 5. Conduct 5.1. Each team will be responsible for set-up and clean-up of the diamond. 5.2. Each team will be responsible for providing an umpire for the game. 5.3. Profanity will not be tolerated toward any individual or group by anyone involved with the Ponytails League. Excited utterance will be looked at on an individual basis. 5.4. No Smoking by coaches, players, or umpires in the immediate area of the playing field while they are involved in the game at hand. 5.5. Drugs or alcohol will not be consumed prior to or during a game or practice that you are involved in as a coach, umpire or spectator. 5.6. Parents are requested to provide black shorts, sweatpants or wind pants on game days. Baseball caps are optional - if worn, caps cannot display any local advertisements other than team sponsor. Bandanas are not allowed. 5.7. No jewelry may be worn during game play. 5.8. Player Eligibility - any girls currently in 1st to 3rd grades must be registered with the MYBA. 5.9. All siblings will be assigned to the same teams unless requested otherwise. 5.10. If a coach is ejected, he/she must also take a one-game suspension. 5.11. A player is not allowed to change or switch teams, unless the MYBA Fast Pitch Softball Commissioner, based upon his/her investigation of the situation, deems a change is necessary. 5.12. If a player quits the team, the league commissioner must be notified in writing by the coach as to the reason the player quit. 5.13.
