N am eless T o w er, Trango Towers, S econd A scent. A six-m an Y ugoslav team from C elje, Slovenia, led by Slavko C ankar, clim bed the 1200m eter-high south-southeast face o f the N am eless T ow er on a new route to the left o f the P olish-Japanese and A m erican attem pts o f 1986. For six days they fixed rope on the low er 900 m eters. The crux was a nearly vertical section just above the snow ledge 300 m eters up the w all. T hey w ere ready to attack the sum m it in early June, but bad w eather drove them back to Base C am p. The final push started during the night o f June 15. The pitches above the previous high point w ere clim bed in icy cold. The sum m it was reached by C ankar, Franc K nez and B ojan Šrot. D uring the descent, the w eather w orsened again and it snow ed. The expedition then m oved to B road Peak but was unsuccessful there. Jó z e f N y k a ,
