Nancy Tam Davis, Member of United Church in University Place, Washington. Hello, I would like to introduce myself. I’ve been a United Methodist for 25 years. My life work has been focused on bringing people together, providing a safe space for ideas to be explored, to grow in understanding and to collaborate on new directions. I retired in 2009 from 21 years in Pierce County Human Resources as the manager of Organizational Development and Training where I created and led an extensive training program for 3,500 employees and a coalition for sharing training resources among 20+ local governments. I facilitated, coached and mediated with individuals, work teams, departments, advisory boards, executive teams and public groups. My experience with this annual conference began during the assignment of Bishop Cal McConnell to PNWAC, leading retreats and planning sessions with cabinets, extended cabinets, boards and committees. I have worked with over 40 local churches in this conference on topics such as strategic planning, decision-making, communication and conflict management. In 2013 I was asked to serve as a Beta Coach for the Church Vitality Process working with four churches across Washington and Northern Idaho. I experienced the amazing gifts and talents of young people stepping into leadership in both the church and the world as my husband Rev. K James Davis served as the chaplain of the University of Puget Sound for 29 years. I continue to see the future in these young people and I am excited for what is ahead. I am in awe of how God moves within and through us as we continue to transform the future world in God’s name. My passion is to bring forth many diverse voices of people into a safe, supported community of discernment and focus. The church, indeed the world, is in a time when we need to hear all the voices, invite people to the table and encourage full engagement. I want to use the role of Conference Lay Leader to strengthen the voice of lay leadership as an active partner with the conference and the Cabinet to move our vision and mission forward.
