Nanda K h a t Tragedy. The leader of a H im alayan Association of Japan expedition, M orio K ajim a, was the only survivor when avalanches overwhelmed the other seven. Base Cam p was set up in late A ugust and three other high camps were established. On O ctober 27 snow began to fall. Radio com m unication w ith the seven climbers in Cam p III was interrupted. K ajim a descended from Cam p I to Base Cam p on the 28th because of avalanche danger. On the 29th porters ascended but found no sign of any of the camps. M ore details are in Iwa T o Yuki, N ° 86.
