SIZES: 12-18 months (2 years, 4 years) FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Chest 24"( 25", 28" ) / 61cm ( 63.5cm, 71cm ) GAUGE In sc, using US size I – 9 ( 5.5 mm ) hook, 15 sc and 18 rows = 4" STITCHES USED Single Crochet (sc) Double Crochet (dc) Half Double Crochet (hdc) Reverse Single Crochet (rsc) Slip Stitch (sl st) Single Crochet 2 Together (sc2tog): Insert hook in next sc, yarn over and pull up a loop (two loops on hook), insert hook in next sc, yarn over and pull up a loop (three loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all three loops on hook. Button Hole Stitch: sc in next sc on edge, ch 2, skip one st, sc in next st. On return row, sc in each sc and in each ch-2 sp. ABBREVIATIONS Back loop (bl) POCKETS (make 2) With CC, ch 13. Turn. Row 1: skip first ch, sc in next ch and in each ch across. Ch 1 – (12 sc). Turn. Row 2 (RS): Sc in first sc and in each sc across. Ch 1. Turn. Rows 3 – 12: Repeat Row 2. At the end of Row 12, end off, leaving long tail to sew Pocket on to Jacket. Lay pockets flat, and block while you work the rest of the Jacket. BACK With MC, ch 45 (47, 51). Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1 – [ 44 (46, 50) sc ]. Turn. Row 2 (RS): sc in each sc across. Rows 3 – 34 (36, 40 ): Repeat Row 2 until Back measures approx. 7 ½" ( 8", 9"), ending with a RS row. Mark both sides of last row for underarm. Rows 35 (37, 41) – 54 ( 58, 64): Repeat Row 2 until Back measures approx. 12" ( 13", 14" ), ending with a RS row. Do not end off. marker on RIGHT FRONT. Ch 1, turn. Repeat directions for left sleeve. FINISHING Sew side seams and sleeve seams. NECK You will be working along the two side curves only. With MC, on WS, join yarn at the curve of the neck on one side. Row 1: work 6 (7, 8) scs, evenly spaced, around curve. Ch 1, turn. Row 2: Hdc in each of first 2 sc, hdc2tog in next 2 sc. Hdc in each sc to end – [5(6, 7) hdcs]. End off. Repeat for curve on other side. EDGING With CC, RS facing, work 1 round of sc around bottom edge of sleeve. Join with a slip stitch. Fasten off. With CC, RS facing, join yarn at center of bottom edge of back. Work 1 round of sc , evenly spaced, around edge of entire sweater, working one sc in each st, three sc in each corner, and one sc in sides of each row, skipping every fourth row so there is no puckering. Join round with a slip stitch in top of first sc. Fasten off. SLEEVE/SHOULDER BORDER With CC, working in the bl of Row 2 of each sleeve, work 1 row RSC. Fasten off. BUTTONS With CC, using a tapestry needle, work Buttonhole St around each ring. Weave yarn through the stitches in the back, and sew on left front of sweater, evenly spaced. Or, use regular buttons.
