Registrar info coming out about teams being entered differently. Also, team name and coach needs to be included. It is very important for Krista to get this information to input into the system. c. Team haven’t been submitting their scores or updating game schedule. Going forward there will be $250 fines for each team that does not show up to scheduling. If you do come to scheduling but not for game it will be considered a forfeit, and $250 fine. d. They will be working on putting together a Fair Play Committee to work on conflicts from the sidelines. Coaches set the tone for the parents, and how the react to the kids, referees, and people around them. e. State level for referees is dropping, and causes are: i. A lot of referees are only 1 yr. older rather than the rule which is 2yr. older (child should be 2 yrs. older than the team). ii. Only using 1 AR is giving referee a tough time. iii. b. Indoor space is limited. If space isn’t being used allow someone else to use it. c. No School No Practice. Registration Day – Krista & Roger a. 1st date for registration will be Saturday, Jan 21st at the Portuguese Club. Both Paula & Krista will be there 10:00-1:00. Concussion handouts will be given out. b. Spring Tryouts? – If U11-U14 coaches would like new players they must agree to have tryouts. This would need to be setup soon because teams need to be submitted by Feb 14th to SCD. Budget Review – Roger & Paula a. Our budget shows that we are $13,430.14 ahead of the game. $6000 is still outstanding from pool uniforms that will be added on. We’re a non-profit organization, and should put it back to the kids, coaches, and league. We also need to figure out what our reserve needs to be, and how to maintain it. Referee Retention and how to improve referee membership – Krista & All a. Back in the fall Krista had asked the referees what we can do different. She received no responses regarding money, or the way their paid. The responses she did receive were interference with high school sports, timing of game, or no parent was home to give rides. b. Krista sent out reminders in November for recertification. Everyone that wanted to recertify did, and those that didn’t really didn’t want to. c. Roger asked Krista if we can use non-certified refs for Rec, and her answer is No. Rec is used as a stepping stone, and training ground for Comp refs. Non-certified refs aren’t up to date with the rules, and missing out on important information. Krista doesn’t feel comfortable putting a noncertified ref on the field. d. Referee meeting will be held towards the end of March possibly at City Hill Middle School. Coaching Director Staff – Mike L., Roger, & All a. Mike would like to create a small staff that would assist with coaching. The 2 people he had in mind are Joe Magalhaes, and Eric McGrath. Both candidates have been dedicated to NYS for years, licensed coaches, premier level coaches, and understand how NYS works. Coaching staff would focus on the coaching objectives of our in-house rec program by creating an age appropriate curriculum for players ages 7-11, and running group practices. The greatest need for coaching, guidance, and mentoring is in our rec program. All board members think this is a great idea. i. This will be paid positons under Mike, and a pilot program for Spring season. ii. Mike will have proposal for our next meeting so that it can be voted on. Publicity/Activities a. Anyone have any opinions to pitch to the mayor regarding our tournament? i. Jolee has a meeting with mayor this coming Thursday to discuss tournament with him. He is very interested and would like to know more. It was suggested that Jolee meet with mayor, and see what dates, and ideas he has in mind, and then bring that information back to the board. nd b. 2 Annual Community Showcase at the high school on February 11th, 10-1:00pm. Jolee will fill out paperwork for a NYS table ($20). Open – All a. Coach’s Clinic end of February. There’s 3 people that would like to attend. i.
