How enterprises benefit from cloud infrastructure Annual Benefits from Pure Public Cloud vs. On-premises Infrastructure: User Productivity, 6%

Savings on Servers, 37%

Operating Income, 12%

IT Staff Productivity, 28% Hosting & Services savings, 10% Networking Equipment & Bandwidth 4%

 Savings are only half of the benefits customers receive from cloud  Most Cloud savings vs. on premises are in the compute layer  Cloud storage is not a significant source of savings vs. on-premises infrastructure

 Other benefits include increased innovation, profits, and productivity Storage savings, 3%

Leadership in Storage for Cloud NetApp mid-range storage is the industry’s highest scoring platform for Cloud use cases in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for General-Purpose, Midrange Storage Arrays, 2014 report With clustered Data ONTAP, NetApp midrange storage systems raise the bar with the manageability, scalability, and storage efficiency needed to optimize cloud deployments Source: Gartner, Critical Capabilities for General-Purpose, Midrange Storage Arrays, March 2014 Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in its research publications, and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors with the highest ratings. NetApp: Project Shift Rapid Virtual Machine Conversion – Powered by the Array Data ONTAP, FlexClone & WAFL

Process involves cloning the data blobs from one format to another, writing any unique differences as needed. For VMware to Hyper-V, we clone from the flat VMDK into the new VHD/VHDX, writing any headers and metadata as needed. Take a VMDK on an NFS data store and shift it to a VHD/VHDX in seconds.

Supports conversion of Windows Server & Linux, and latest versions of Hyper-V & vSphere. Only writing the difference in the file format not the contents of the virtual disk itself. Requires a NetApp storage device that is running Data ONTAP 8.2 or later, running in Cluster mode More info: https://communities.netapp.com/community/netapp-blogs/msenviro/blog/2013/08/02/mat-poweredby-project-shift, http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/MAT-powered-by-Shift-343f242d
