New Curriculum Marking Policy Mark in blue. Positive comments should be fronted with a star*. Negative comments should be fronted with a wish sign @. Pre-lesson – quality marking to identify any pre-teaching intervention needed, and next week focus. Use checklist (highlighted as below) – teacher only. Pre-teaching – ‘A’ as achieved. Literacy Specific Lesson teaching – highlight Learning Objective or/and Success Criteria identified as a class (children to write this at the top of their work). Highlighter: Green – LO achieved. Blank LO – not achieved. @ Wish needs to be an action (either from SC or to develop learning further if all SC achieved). CHILDREN NEED TO RESPOND TO THESE BEFORE THEY DO THEIR NEXT PIECE OF WORK SO THEY CAN APPLY THE LEARNING TO THE NEXT PIECE, THIS SHOWS PROGRESSION! NB: Response doesn’t need to be written – it can be verbal (VF) or  by child to show it’s been read, progress should be evident as improvement in the next piece of writing.
