New Routes in Canyonlands National Park, Island in the Sky District ...

N ew R outes in C anyonlands N ational Park, Island in the Sky D istrict, 1992-3. I m ade the follow ing new routes. In February, 1992, D avid Lindy and I clim bed Thracian M are, a curving seam on the narrow w est face (III, 5.8, A 3+); this is in Taylor C anyon next to M oses. In February, 1992, M ike W oods and I clim bed Sandcastle, starting up the southw est side to the notch betw een the island and the spire before continuing up the northern prow (IV, 5.8, A3); located in B uck C anyon, it is the third spire in the M onster Tower W asher­ w om an A rch area. In A pril, 1993, Wood, Lindy and I clim bed the Cauldrons via a crack system dividing the tw in sum m its on the south face(II, 5.10, A l); this is located in H ell R oaring Canyon betw een the W itch and the W arlock. In May, 1993, Chris Sircello and I clim bed the south face to the notch and then the north face to the top o f O utlaw Spire (also know n as H ardscrabble Spire; III, 5.10, A3); this is located at the top of H ardscrabble Hill.
