Welcome to Newsletter Number 25 One of the most humbling experiences of working with children in a school is to be privileged enough to be with them and share in their achievements and successes. In a Primary school such as ours, this happens on a daily basis as children suddenly grasp a mathematical concept or learn to spell a new word. We don’t take it for granted and we are always proud, no matter how small the success. This week our Year 6 pupils completed their end of Key Stage 2 SAT tests. We know that the tests can only measure a small part of each child’s understanding and that their success over seven years of Primary School in reality amounts to more than scores for reading, writing and maths. However, as a school we also know how important these skills will be to the children in later life. It is our main job as a primary school to provide all our children with the knowledge and attitude they will need in order to be happy and succeed at secondary school. These tests are also a measure of individual success for each of the children, who have been on an epic learning journey since they first set foot in school at the age of four. We are deeply proud of all the children who took part in the tests this week. We know that each one of them has worked hard, earned their result and demonstrated to the whole world what they are capable of. Well done, Year 6, we’re proud of you. Have a lovely weekend! Remembering...VE Day Last Friday was the 70th anniversary of VE Day, the day when the end of World War 2 was declared on May 8th 1945. The whole school remembered this important event by dressing up in red, white and blue and having street parties with bunting, flags and plates decorated by the children.
