ESCRICK CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL SUMMER TERM 2016 May Newsletter 16
Healthy Snacks Please can I ask that if your child has a packed lunch that their food is healthy, we do not consider lollies or sweets to be suitable in your child’s packed lunch. As a healthy school it is important that we encourage our children to eat a balanced diet and have healthy options at lunchtime, thank you. Sun cream and sun hats At long last we have some sunny weather! Please can we remind you to ensure that your child has suntan lotion applied before school so that they are covered at playtimes and lunchtimes. We are not allowed to apply suntan lotion to your child/ren so the all day cream is a good option. Can you also please send your child to school with a sun hat and a water bottle (named) so we can encourage them to have frequent drinks. KS2 - Money It has been brought to our attention that some children are bringing £5 or more into school. The only money children need in school is for tuck shop or toasty Friday. These items cost a maximum of 25p so children should not need more than £1. Year 6 Well done on such a mature start to your SATs this week. Remember early nights and a positive attitude. Day of prayer On Thursday 12th May St Helen’s Church will be open, as it always is but there will be someone in church throughout the day to share in prayer with you if you would like them to. Reminder It is important that children are suitably supervised before the bell is rung at 8.55am; we do not have a member of staff on duty before school so you need to supervise your children and make sure they are playing safely. Thank you To those Year 1 and 2 parents who attended the information session on SATS and the Year 1 Phonics screen check – we hope you found the sessions useful and have allowed you to gain a further understanding of the end of key stage tests. If you missed the session and have any questions then please see either Mrs Harding, Mrs Allen or Miss Miller. Assessment and reports information session - Monday 16th May at 6pm We are holding an information evening for all parents to update you on end of year assessments and how this information will be reported to you in your child’s annual report. We hope you can attend this at it will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions relating to assessments in school. Team Points The Lions were the winners again last week, well done!
The Yorkshire Rows Janette Benaddi will be bringing the boat that she helped to row across the Atlantic Ocean into school on Friday 13th May. The children will be going to look at the boat during the afternoon. She will be speaking about her adventures in celebration assembly and if you would like to view the boat then you would be more than welcome to do so after school finishes. The crew were raising money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre. They will have collection buckets available after school and all donations will be gratefully received. Dates 20th May – Non uniform & PTA movie night – letter to follow shortly 24th May – class photographs 27th May – tea party – details to follow Due to a clash with the KS2 performance and the Year 6’s visit to Fulford we have had to change the date of the performance.
