Dear Alumnae, Friends and Family of LUWS, At the beginning of a new year it is always nice to reflect on the past year and look forward to the next. As we approach the beginning of our training for 2014, we do the same with the Lehigh Women's Soccer program. It is amazing what has taken place in 2013 from the graduation of our awesome 2013 senior class (Mary Grace Doyle, Ardyn Olzsko and Izzy Li), our continuous excellent performance in the classroom (3.45 team GPA), to the competitive fall season that saw our team accomplish some great things. These accomplishments include winning the St. Mary's Classic on our trip to California and our 2nd positive result against the University of Pennsylvania in the history of the program. While we felt short of our goal of a Patriot League playoff position, we do feel that we are in good position moving forward to compete for a Championship in 2014! 2014 looks to be a bright year for LUWS with several new members being added to our program with this year's freshman class and strong 2014 class that just signed their NLI's on February 5th. We are also very proud of our senior class of Paige Dyrek, Katie Gavalchin, Murphee Greeley, Ali Griffin, Heather Camperson, and Rosie Vitta who had a great four-‐year career and will be graduating in May. We have no doubt they will make tremendous representatives of Lehigh in all their endeavors. I would also like to thank all of the individuals listed on the front page who supported our program in 2013! It was through their generosity that we were able to make the team trip to California and greatly enhanced the student-‐athlete experience for the team. THANK YOU!
- Coach Lambinus
To All-‐League Honoree Senior Captain Murphee Greeley (3rd Team)!! Well Done!!

Top of the Charts! Congratulations to Lehigh Women’s Soccer sophomore Paige Elliott for claiming the 2 013 LUWS Scholar Athlete award at the team’s banquet held at the Gander Room on Sunday, December 8. With the team having an overall 3.5 GPA, it was a tight race. However, it was the perfect 4.0 as a Chemical Engineering major that pushed the sophomore from Apison, Tennessee to claim this year’s award.
Coaches’ Pick!
Congratulations to 2013 Coaches’ Award recipient senior Katie Gavalchin! This award was given to the senior center back at the LUWS banquet on Sunday, December 8. Katie truly epitomizes w hat it means to stick w ith something, even when times are tough. Katie was a player who saw limited action in many games throughout her first three seasons before solidifying a role as a starting center back her senior year. Her consistent w ork rate and growth as a player throughout her time at Lehigh made her a no brainer for this selection. Katie is a Behavioral Neuroscience Major from Robbinsville, NJ.
SNAPSHOTS OF LUWS
A Sad Goodbye Shortly after our first game, the LUWS team had to say goodbye to longtime Lehigh Athletic Trainer Brian White. Brian worked w ith the team from 2010 (won a PLC!) through preseason 2013 before taking a position in California w ith Stanford’s Football team (he just won a PAC 10 championship and is headed to the Rose Bowl!). Here he can be seen o n his last day wearing his “Stanford Issue” Hawaiian shirt, which w as already attacked by the sleeve monster. We wish Brian nothing but the best!
Team MVP! LUWS hosted the annual Women’s Soccer banquet on Sunday, December 8. For the second year in a row, Murphee Greeley was named the LUWS Outstanding Athlete. Murphee was a senior captain and a four-‐year letter winner. She w as a three-‐year All-‐League recipient for the Patriot League in addition to her accolades from the team. Murphee is a Global Studies major from Devon, Pennsylvania.
We Are the Champions!
Adopt-‐a-‐Family
LUWS took a trip to California to play at the Saint Mary’s College Classic in early September this year. With a win over host Saint Mary’s and a tie against the University of Pacific, the team clinched the tournament championship before celebrating with some ice cream at the San Francisco Creamery and heading back to the East Coast. We are very thankful to our supporters and Lehigh for making this memorable trip possible. For more about our trip to San Francisco, keep reading on the next page to hear some thoughts from sophomore Aileen Bidad!
Lehigh student-‐athletes from every team gave back to the community on Wednesday evening as Lehigh C.O.A.C.H. (Community O utreach Athletes who Care about Helping) program directed its 15th annual Adopt-‐a-‐Family event at Donegan Elementary School in Bethlehem. Each Lehigh athletic team adopted an under-‐privileged family to help share in the holiday season. Throughout the semester, money was raised to help give these families a little piece of joy during the holidays. Here, LUWS is pictured with their family on December 5.

California, Here We Come!
Aileen’s Take on Our West Coast Trip!
California was one of the most memorable experiences that I have had at Lehigh so far, and it was all made possible through Lehigh University, our W omen’s Soccer team, and the contributions from our alumni, friends, and families. In San Francisco, we were able to see all the sights: the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard Street, and – our favorite sight – [former Lehigh/LUWS] Trainer Brian White w ho had just moved out to California! We also got to visit the house of one of our teammates, where w e had a great home-‐cooked meal and played games that had me laughing harder than I've ever laughed before. Though we w ere so consumed in experiencing all that San Francisco had to offer, we did not forget that we were there to play soccer and compete for a championship. And w e did just that! I was able to
experience our first tournament win with the soccer team and contribute to each of the games. Being able to look into the stands and see so much brown and white was a great feeling. Tons of fans came out to support us and that definitely contributed to our winning weekend. The trip w as a huge success, and though the jet lag from our red eye flight took a toll on the following week of classes, it was such a successful trip. I will never forget the memories I made with my team on the West Coast! Aileen is a sophomore from Washingtonville, NY and is majoring in BioEngineering. Yes, this i s A sitting in the cockpit of our plane!
