Welcome to Hutt City Salvation Army. Christmas is now only seven weeks away - next month in fact. This morning I want to share some thoughts around the theme of 'Overcoming fear.' For some, the thought of Christmas may be something they fear. They are not prepared for the expense or the stress or the feelings of inadequacies of other's expectations. Sometimes our fears are real and yet other times, they are irrational and unnecessary. Either can have the same debilitating effect. About the only thing God would want us to be fearful about, is not having an appropriate relationship with Him. Dear Sponsor, First I salute you in the name of Jesus Christ. I hope you are fine with your family. I take this opportunity to say thank you for your gift that you have been sending to me since I was sponsored. When I got the gift my father bought me a goat and school uniform. I am saved and I go to Sunday school, even I am a Sunday school teacher and I even go to choir. I am now in class seven and do well in my studies. If you want to attend the Cleansing Streams retreat our next Wellington Cleansing Stream retreat / freedom day is set for Saturday 14 November at Hope Centre, 8 Downer Street, Lower Hutt. The retreat cost is $60 and the day will run from 9am to 5pm. Please see Janette if you want to attend.
Christmas Day at Hutt City Corps begins at 10am with a Celebration Service. This is followed by our delicious Christmas lunch. If you would like to come to our Celebration Service and lunch please contact Leah at Reception to add your name/s to our Christmas Day list, on 0-4-570 0273 or [email protected]
It’s that time of the year again when we are thinking about gifts for those special people in our lives, both family and friends. Would you help us to send a Christmas gift of $20 to each of our cherished young people. As this is extra to our weekly collection for the children would you please place your gift money in a marked envelope. A tax receipt is available for all gifts over $5. Write your full name and amount on the envelope of a separate slip of paper. Every dollar helps. Cherish Our Children envelopes are available in the foyer and at the front of church. Eftpos is also available in the foyer after our Sunday service.
\ Check out the gift chart at the rear of the auditorium. Every $20 will place a gift on the chart. Have you thought of sending a Christmas card to one (or more) of the children, Gay Buchanan would be happy to give you the contact details.
Life has the tendency to change a whole lot. And so do personal contact details. We want to stay in touch with you, keeping you up-to-date with our programmes and activities. Enclosed in this weeks Newsletter we have a contact form that we would appreciate you filling it out. At the bottom of the form there is an option to receive your Newsletter by email. We have found this option to be really efficient and also cuts down on paper. So if you have an email address please consider ticking the box and you will begin to have a great online eNewsletter delivered on a Friday afternoon.
