FALL HIGHLIGHTS
Team Looks Strong as Season Starts! We have had a very busy last few weeks here in Las Cruces moving 12 freshmen into to the dorms, community service projects, hiring a new diving coach, our first intersquad meet and lots of hard work; it has made for a great start to our season! The training has been great. It is a rare thing to have a group of athletes who are so supportive of each other and their goals. When this group walks onto the pool deck they are aware of the team that they want to be and how each of them plays an important role in becoming champions! It’s a really inspiring atmosphere to be in and for the coaches, we just try to foster that and just let the girls thrive. Our Crimson and White meet is a great example of the results that are coming from the team’s dedication to this season. It was one of the most impressive inter-squad meets we've ever had. There were a lot of great efforts and the competitive spirit of our team was tremendous. Sophomore Picabo Bender has stood out in the fall and had a very strong showing, winning the 100 and 200 free. Jennifer Brennecke was also impressive with some inseason best swims in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard IM. But it isn’t just the younger swimmers on the team that are stepping up, seniors Cassandra Rupp and Dori Lennert had some impressive swims.
Overall, this scrimmage was a great indicator of where we are fitness-wise and what we need to work on moving forward. It was fun watching our large group of divers perform too! Coach Andy is really making a difference. The divers had a great first showing with Lauren Reifel winning the 1-m and 3-m events. Rounding out the top three on 1-m was Mckinna Hauff and Raina Brommer, and on 3-m was Abby Watson and Sheridan Decker. It really shows us how competitive all of them are and how close they are in points. This is a great position to be in as any of them can give us a strong showing on any board. It's a good start for a team with huge potential. Our group always sacrifices so much and works extremely hard all year, in and out of the pool. They have been hammering themselves in the classroom and in the community as well as at the pool and in the weight room this fall. Almost every athlete has 10 or more hours of community service and we are always grateful for the chance to give back in Las Cruces. We are looking forward to some great performances as the fall continues. Please come out and support us! And as always, GO AGGIES!!!!
COMMUNITY OUTREACH The girls participated in the Horny Toad Hustle as a community service opportunity again this year. This was the 5th year that the girls have gone out to support the bikers as they race the course out at the Dona Ana dirt bike paths. They girls hand out water and cheer the racers on!
ALUMNI HOMECOMING WEEKEND This year we are having our Alumni Meet during homecoming weekend. We will be watching the team take on Wyoming on Friday 4pm. Saturday morning we will warm up at the pool at 11am and the races will begin at 11:30am. The alum, current team, friend and family are invited to join us in our tailgate before the football game against Troy State! Looking forward to a big turnout and getting to spend some time with all our Aggie Family.

He is passionate and energetic and these qualities will help us grow and push our diving program to the next level. Our Annual Team Camping Trip Our first big adventure was the camping trip this year. Typically we break up into Crimson and White teams and have some challenge activities on our way to the campsite however this year we chose to keep everyone together and focus on cohesion as a whole team. We went out to the Aguirre Springs campsites where we did some teambuilding activities, set up camp and spent the evening together. This year our strength and conditioning coach Zach Witherspoon and our athletic trainer Shelli Herseth joined us. Coach Pratt and Coach Goe brought their guitars and a group of people sat around playing and singing for hours around the campfire. It was a blast and one of the best camping trips we’ve had to date.
