PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION Dear North Shore Residents and Businesses, The annual ASB Auckland Marathon is taking place on Sunday 1 November 2015 and will attract more than 11,000 participants. In line with Auckland Council requirements, we would like to provide you with a summary of the event and a list of the roads impacted during the marathon. The Full Marathon course starts from Devonport, on the North Shore, heads through Takapuna to Smales Farm, then along the Northern busway, southbound across the Auckland Harbour Bridge, continuing along the Auckland Waterfront to the finish on Fanshawe St, adjacent to Victoria Park. The ASB Auckland Marathon is a major event which attracts significant national and international visitors, media coverage and promotion for Auckland. The ASB Auckland Marathon Organising Committee would like to thank all residents and businesses for their ongoing co-operation and support of this major signature event for Auckland. All road closures and parking restrictions are for Sunday 1 November 2015 unless stated otherwise. Parking Restrictions: The following parking controls will apply on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. Please check all signage before parking.
Victoria Road, Devonport, from King Edward Parade, extending south for a distance of approximately 70.0m Saturday 2pm until Sunday 11am King Edward Parade, Devonport, both kerb lines from Church Street, extending west to Victoria Road. Lake Road, Belmont (in front of Takapuna Grammar School), Bracken Ave, Southern kerb.
Course Contingency: In the event of adverse weather or any other consideration causing the Harbour Bridge to be closed to participants, the event will be conducted on the following Auckland waterfront course. The following roads will be closed from 6.00am to 12.00pm on Sunday 2 November 2014; Gaunt Street (from Daldy Street to Halsey Street), Halsey Street (from Pakenham Street West to Fanshawe Street), Viaduct Harbour Avenue (from Halsey Street to Customs Street West), Customs Street West (from Viaduct Harbour Avenue to Lower Hobson Street), Lower Hobson Street (from Sturdee Street to Quay Street), Quay Street (from Lower Hobson Street to Tamaki Drive), Tamaki Drive (from The Strand to Goldie Street, St Heliers) and Fanshawe Street (from Beaumont Street to Halsey Street) will be closed from 3.00am to 3.00pm. Please note – vehicles that remain on Tamaki Drive will be uplifted and towed to ensure the safety of participants. Please refrain from parking on Tamaki Drive during the hours specified. We are anticipating only minimal inconvenience, however we do apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused.
Spectator Viewing Points: We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to become part of this action packed day. Entries are still available for all distances (42k, 21k, 12k, 5k and Kids 2k) or join us at various dedicated cheer zones along the course at Smales Farm Bus Station (between 6.30am and 9am) and Akoranga Bus Station (between 6.35am and 9.30am) on the North Shore and the finish venue at Victoria Park (between 7.55am and 1.00pm) to cheer on all the participants in this world class event.
