Dear Parents,
June 17 2016
Behaviour for learning We had an assembly on Monday when we revisited the school’s behaviour policy and the reasons why we expect good behaviour at school. The children had some sensible suggestions to improve the systems at Kewstoke and so the behaviour policy has been altered slightly. Children will be rewarded with house points, stickers, postcards, smiles and praise. When children need a sanction they will have time off play and lunchtimes for minor misdemeanours. More serious incidents will result in seclusions (children work in isolation for a period of the day) when this happens parents will be informed. Playground improvements I am delighted that our application to the ‘Community Rehabilitation Company’ has been successful and a team will be coming to school on Saturdays over the next few months to repaint the railings and window frames. They also will be dismantling the fort, saving the best parts to be reused and disposing of the rotten parts. If you have any of the following you could donate to the project we would be very grateful: wire brushes, black ‘Hammerite paint’, masking tape, sandpaper, white and black gloss paint, undercoat, 2” or 1” brushes. Many thanks. Kind donation We have also had a generous donation of £50 from Worle Lions towards plants to enhance the school grounds so we will be working on making the ramp area more attractive. Story teller The children were spell bound on Tuesday as they listened and joined in with the stories told from around the world by Mrs. Flood who is a professional story teller. The follow on art work the children produced was outstanding and showed the creative skills of our children beautifully. New Reception Class It was delightful to meet with our new reception parents last week. We have some new families joining the school as well as some familiar faces so I look forward to working with everyone to make Kewstoke even better than it is already. th
Sports Day (28 June 2pm at the Village Hall) We will be practising this next week so please ensure all children have PE kit in school. School Shoes It is important that children wear the correct uniform to school. Please ensure that school shoes are worn and trainers are kept for PE.
