northeast Indiana partnership regional partnershiP annual report reporT 2008

LEADERSHIP LETTER Embarking on a mission to garner prominent awareness of the assets, workforce and opportunities found in our member counties, the Partnership rose to a new level with enhanced marketing campaigns, heightened collaboration among our local economic development partners and enthusiasm to improve the quality of our business attraction strategies.

The businesses highlighted throughout this annual report were all featured in the 2008 year-end success stories campaign.

Our business development team established personal relationships with influential and active site selectors bringing many new opportunities to compete for projects. Our regional communication efforts were directed toward stakeholders who can help deliver on the strategic plan.  Increased collaboration was achieved through routine meetings with area commercial brokers and developers. Commissioner and mayor luncheons enhanced our communications with government partners. Teamwork with our region’s economic development professionals in marketing campaigns produced top-of-the-line results. With support from WorkOne Northeast, Indiana Michigan Power, NIPSCO, and the Northeast Indiana Foundation, local economic leaders now have access to ExecutivePulse, the nation’s leading business retention and expansion software. In addition, the Partnership’s benchmarking initiative began in earnest to advance the effectiveness of our efforts throughout the region. Northeast Indiana’s reach proved to be steadily increasing in 2008 and its story is being heard by more and more people; the right people. The Partnership team has worked to increase the region’s exposure through multifaceted efforts, including website improvements, targeted mailings, monthly e-newsletters and a new blog, launched in October, creating one more avenue to globally broadcast northeast Indiana’s assets. All of these efforts have been made possible and successful through the continuous support and participation of business and economic development leaders throughout the region. Working together to achieve the region’s goals, northeast Indiana is positioning itself in the path of economic prosperity and growth. Our work is far from done. In these uncertain economic times, it is more essential now than ever that the Partnership forges ahead with aggressive efforts to bring new investment to northeast Indiana. It will take steadfast commitment and tireless perseverance from all our stakeholders. As we close 2008, we offer our sincere thanks to our investors, board members, public officials and local economic development leaders. The progress we are witnessing within our region is validation that success has a home in northeast Indiana.

Telling the Story

Northeast Indiana has a vast array of assets available for businesses to leverage. The corporate success stories that testify to their effectiveness are plentiful. The Partnership’s marketing team spent 2008 broadcasting this message, showcasing the region’s assets and placing detailed information at the fingertips of business leaders and site selectors. Four of northeast Indiana’s six target industries were condensed into concise sales sheets available
