Teams should be at the field ready to play at least 20 minutes before scheduled game time. If both teams are present, play will begin immediately following the prior game. 3. Forfeiture time will be 10 minutes after the scheduled game time. Communication directly to the Tournament Director regarding late arrival will be taken into consideration on an individual basis. 4. MAXIMUM pitching arc: 12 feet from ground. MINIMUM pitching arc: 6 feet from ground. 5. The umpire is totally responsible for the interpretation of game rules, control of the game, and ejection of players. An ejected player must leave the grounds immediately. Upon ejection from a second game, player will be disqualified for the remainder of the tournament. 6. In the unlikely event of a protest, the Tournament Directors (Tournament Director & Director of Umpires) must immediately be notified and their decision on the appeal will be final. 7. No warming up on the field before the game. All games begin and end in prayer. 8. Maximum of 5 warm-up pitches for the first inning. NO pitching, infield or outfield warm- ups beyond the first inning. 9. The Pitcher may take a position from the edge of the pitcher’s plate up to second base behind the pitcher’s plate, within the 24” width of the pitcher’s plate with both feet planted firmly on the ground. ALL OTHER PITCHING RULES STILL APPLY! 10. 10-RUN RULE : If a team goes ahead in a game by 10 or more runs after a legal game (4 1/2 - 5 innings), then the game is over. The home team will bat only if trailing. The 10-run rule is not in affect during championship game(s). 11. The 15-RUN RULE - If a team goes ahead by 15 runs after 3 1/2 innings, then the game is over. The home team bats only if trailing. The 15-run rule is not in affect during championship game(s). 12. A.S.A. re-entry rule is in effect. 13. 1 or 2 Extra Players (EP) may be used. 14. All Batters will begin each at bat with a one (1) ball, one (1) strike count.

5

15. The foul on the third-strike rule is in effect when a player hitting a foul ball after the second strike is out. If a fielder catches this foul ball, play continues. 16. Profane language is not allowed. The umpire has the authority to remove any player, coach, spectator, etc. from the playing area or game for violation of the rule. 17. UVF and all field owners will not be responsible for any injuries throughout the tournament. 18. In case of rain, go to the field you are scheduled to play on. The only time you do not have to be at the field at the playing time is if you get a call from the Tournament Director that the field is not playable. 19. Each coach is responsible for the conduct of his players. 20. All cars must be parked in the designated parking areas. Please stay off the grass. 21. Games suspended due to rain or darkness will be completed in their entirety from the point of suspension at a rescheduled time. 22. Uniforms are optional, although it is recommended that each team have at least distinguishing shirts. 23. The designated home team is responsible for maintaining an official score sheet and statistics for each game. The winning team will see that the official score sheet is properly completed, signed by the umpire, and submitted to the field manager immediately after the game. 24. Steel spikes or cleats WILL NOT BE PERMITTED as playing shoes for the entire tournament. RUBBER SPIKED SHOES ONLY! 25. A courtesy runner may be used (see following page). 26. Home Run Rule for fenced fields. 

Due to questions about bats and after consultation with a number of league officials the Northeast Regional Softball Tournament has decided to implement a home run rule. The rule will only be in effect for fenced fields.

The rule reads as follows: Any field with an outfield fence will have a limit of 3 home runs over the fence per team.

Any ball hit over the fence in excess of your allowable limit will be counted as an out and you proceed to the next batter.

6

EXTRA PLAYER RULE 1. An Extra Player, referred to as an EP, is optional, but if one or two are used, it must be made known prior to the start of the game, and be listed on the scoring sheet in the regular batting order. 2. Your lineup may have 12 batting positions. The EP may bat in any of the 12 batting positions. 3. The EP must remain in the same position in the batting order for the entire game. 4. If an EP is used, all 12 must bat and any 10 can play defense. Defensive positions can be changed, but the batting order must remain the same. 5. The EP may be substituted at any time, either by a pinch runner or pinch-hitter, who then becomes the EP. The substitute must be a player who has not yet been in the game. The starting EP can re-enter one time like all the other starting players. 6. If you start the game with an EP and later in the game the EP gets hurt, he cannot play and is out of the game. If you have a substitute he becomes your new EP. If you don't have a substitute the game continues with the batting position of the EP as an out. 7. In the case when a fielder gets hurt and has to leave the game: If you have a substitute, that substitute is put in the injured player's batting position. If you don't have a substitute, the EP must go on the field with the injured player's batting position as an out when it is their turn at bat. 8. For play to continue, you must have at least 8 players on defense. Less than 8, you forfeit. The EP is considered one of the 8 players. NOTE: The above rules are not exactly the same as the ASA Extra Player Rule. In the ASA Rule, if you start with 11 you must finish with 11. If you don't finish with 11, your team would forfeit. COURTESY RUNNER 1. A courtesy runner may be used in the case of an injured player. Before the start of the game the coach must inform the opposing team of the person for which they would like a runner. The courtesy runner will be the last out. 2. Only one player in the batting order may have a courtesy runner. 3. If the designated player is taken out of the game, a courtesy runner may only then be used if an injury occurs during the game to another player, or if the original designated player re-enters. 4. If no player is designated at the start of the game, a courtesy runner may be added only in the event of an injury.
