NOTES & RECORDS - NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS: WEST PRELIMS DAY 2 // FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2016

WEATHER DELAY: • Due to thunderstorms in the area the meet went under a four hour delay prior to the final heat of the men’s steeplechase. • The men’s and women’s pole vault, high jump and women’s long jump contests were moved indoors to the Univeristy of Kasnas’ Anshutz Pavilion. WOMEN’S 10,000 METER • Arkansas senior Dominique Scott won the 10K and carved a new facility record with a time of 34:20.35. MEN’S 10,000 METER • For the second straight year, Edward Cheserek of Oregon claimed the men’s 10K turning in a time of 29:45.41. • Cheserek’s time set a new facility record at Rock Chalk Park. WOMEN’S 100 METER • Oregon sophomore Hannah Cunliffe earned the top time in the women’s 100 meter dash with a time of 11.13. • Cunliffe’s time is the second fastest mark in West prelims history, two-hundredths of a second shy of the top time owned by Oregon’s Jenna Prandini. MEN’S 100 METER • Marqueze Washington of Arkansas took the men’s 100 meter dash with a sprint of 10.20, a new Rock Chalk Park record. WOMEN’S 400 METER • Courtney Okolo of Texas won the women’s 400 meter dash with a run of 51.06, leading the field by more than three-tenths of a second. • The senior’s time is the third fastest mark in West prelims history, the All-Time fastest mark is owned by Ashley Spencer (Illinois) with a time of 50.88. MEN’S 400 METER • Baylor freshman Wil London won the men’s 400 meter dash with a time of 45.84 in. • London’s run set a new facility record. WOMEN’S 800 METER • BYU’s Shea Collinsworth turned in the top spot in the women’s 800 meter with a time of 2:04.82, shattering the previous facility record by nearly four seconds. MEN’S 800 METER • Donavan Brazier of Texas A&M turned in the top men’s 800 meter time with a two second lead over his competition, clocking in at 1:46.53. • The freshman claimed a spot in the top-10 All-Time performances at the West Prelims, recording the sixth best time in the history of the event.

WOMEN’S 400 METER HURDLES • Texas A&M’s Shamier Little claims back-to-back women’s 400 meter hurdles top times, turning in a time of 56.52 and erasing the pervious facility record by one-tenth of a second. • Little’s time comes in as the tenth All-Time best performance in West Prelims history. MEN’S 400 METER HURDLES • Sean Pille of Nebraska won the men’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 50.72. WOMEN’S 3000 METER STEEPLECHASE • For the second consecutive year, New Mexico senior Courtney Frerichs turned in the fastest time in the women’s steeplechase by more than 10 seconds, clocking in at 9:51.48. Frerichs’ time shattered the facilities previous record by more than 45 seconds. • Frerichs now holds the top-two West Prelims All-Time best performances, last year she registered a 9:48.30 for the top time in the prelims history. • The Nixa, Missouri native currently holds the fastest time in the nation, running a 9:29.31 earlier this season. MEN’S 3000 METER STEEPLECHASE • Texas Tech junior Benard Keter won the men’s 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:39.92, a new facility record. • Keter’s time is good for the eight best time in West Prelims history. WOMEN’S LONG JUMP (ANSHUTZ PAVILION) • Nebraska’s Tierra Williams recorded the winning jump in the women’s long jump with a mark of 6.41m (21’½”). MEN’S LONG JUMP • Jarrion Lawson of Arkansas claimed the men’s long jump with the top mark of 7.92m (26’0”), registering a new facility record. • Lawson now owns three of the top-five marks in West Prelims history. The senior’s jumps from the 2013 and 2015 West Prelims are also among the top-five. WOMEN’S JAVELIN • Maggie Malone of Texas A&M registered a mark of 57.99m (190’3”) to claim the women’s javelin and set a new facility record. • Malone’s mark is the new All-Time best in West Prelims history. The previous record was 56.56m, owned by Texas Tech’s Hannah Carson. MEN’S JAVELIN • Texas A&M sophomore Ioannis Kyriazis claims the men’s javelin on his first throw with a mark of 75.70m (248’4”) • Kyriazis tallied his second top-ten mark in West Prelims history, holding the fourth and seventh place spots. WOMEN’S HAMMER THROW • Southern Illinois senior DeAnna Price recorded the longest mark in the women’s hammer throw, tossing 71.66m (235’1”). • Price’s distance is the All-Time best throw in West Prelims history, surpassing the previous mark by sixth-thenths of a meter. • Price has the nations best mark this season (72.66m). MEN’S HAMMER THROW • For the second consecutive year, Nick Miller of Oklahoma State won the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 76.93m (252’4”). Miller led the rest of the competition by six meters. • Miller’s throw moved him atop the national standings, moving ahead of Cornell junior Rudy Winkler who previously held the top stop with a mark of 75.10m. • The senior’s mark set a new West Prelims All-Time best mark, erasing the pervious mark by more than a meter (75.01m) held by USC’s Connor McCullough. • Miller set a new Rock Chalk Park Record, shattering the pervious record by nearling five meters. WOMEN’S POLE VAULT (ANSHUTZ PAVILION) • Arkansas’ Alexis Weeks won the women’s pole vault clearing 4.22m (13’10” ).

MEN’S POLE VAULT (ANSHUTZ PAVILION) • Missouri freshman Matthew Ludwig took first in the men’s pole vault clearing 5.38m (17’7¾”) on his first attempt at the height. WOMEN’S HIGH JUMP (ANSHUTZ PAVILION) • Three competitors - Chelsie Decoud (Texas State), Kimberly Williamson (Kansas State) and Heta Tuuri (Minnesota) - cleared 1.80m (5’10¾”) to claim the top spots in the women’s high jump. MEN’S HIGH JUMP (ANSHUTZ PAVILION) • Three competitors - Ken LeGassey (Arkansas), Christoff Bryan (Kansas State) and Randall Cunningham (USC) - tied for first place in the men’s high jump, each clearing 2.16m (7’1”) on their first attempts.
