Noun Phrases

文法注意点 Phrases (a group of words with a noun or subject, but are not a full sentences) can be made into nouns. Though in Japanese there is no specific word, normally noun phrases are started with question words (words beginning in wh ) What I ate yesterday was chicken. 昨日食べたのはチキンです。 Where I traveled was France and Spain. 旅行したのはフランスとスペインです。 What I want you to do is study. やって欲しいのは勉強する事です。 I will go where you went yesterday. 昨日あなたが行った場所に行きます。

In this case, the wh words are not used for questions, but they can be thought of as having the same meaning as the _____ that.

When I went to Africa

>

The time that I went to Africa
