Oct/Nov 2017 A Time for Thanksgiving “Why do Americans celebrate Thanksgiving,” asked an international student from the Middle East.
Please pray for these new relationships. Pray for the Lord to open doors in the coming weeks for these students to hear about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A Retreat to the Gospel
This year, we cast vision to local believers to join us in celebrating a Thanksgiving feast with international students (pictured above). We hoped this time of connection around a Thanksgiving meal would provide opportunities for relationships to be built centered on the gospel. God answered our prayers as many international students attended and every table had a local believer! It was a joyous time to watch the Lord work in building relationships that will, prayerfully, lead to salvation in Him. Emily and another local believer, (pictured below), even had the opportunity to share the gospel with one of the international students who attended!
“Hearing one of our students, with a Hindu background, and two of our Muslim guys having a conversation about God was really cool,” shared one of our teammates. “The conversation was about Jesus being incarnate and the only way to a right relationship with God. This is how this truth is the dividing point between Christianity and other religions.” Fall Retreat was a wonderful time with six international students from Mason and our first student from our new launch at Georgetown University. We participated in different crafts to illustrate the gospel stories we were learning. After each activity, (pictured below), we took time to chat more with the students about what these stories taught them about God and human nature. The last morning, God gave us the opportunity to talk with the students about the Gospel. We were able to deepen our relationships with the students who came, and most importantly, God gave the students a deeper understanding of who He is.
