Nursery â Summer 1
Personal, Social and Emotional
Communication and Language
We will be re-enforcing our classroom rules and the behaviour we expect to see,
We will be talking about the things we see in the garden and in our stories,
We will be talking about our feelings and the feelings of others around us,
We will be working on our listening skills, good sitting and looking at the person talking,
We will be trying hard to put on our own weather suit to play outside,
We will be sharing our knowledge of plants, how they grow and how to look after them.
We will be trying to become more independent, especially the children who will be moving into Reception class in September.
Physical Development We will be moving in a variety of ways, starting small like a seed and growing tall like a plant, We will be climbing independently on our climbing tree, We will be working on our fine motor skills, holding a pencil correctly and forming marks, circles and lines
Nursery – Summer 1 Expressive Arts and Design
Literacy We will be reading lots of different books about growing this half term, such as Oliver’s Vegetables We will continue with phase 1 phonics – and be carrying out activities on rhyme, and blending and segmenting CVC words. We will be talking about the characters in our stories and trying to remember their names. We will be using puppets and story cards to order and re-tell our stories
Mathematics
Understanding the World
We are going to focus lots on counting out objects, trying to stop on the correct number.
We will be exploring the ICT equipment, using it independently and with support
We will be learning about 2D shapescircle, square, rectangle, triangle
We will be talking about and investigating how plants grow and how to look after them
We will be singing number rhymes and songs so we can say our numbers in order to 10,
We will be singing songs and playing instruments We will be building our own beanstalk/sunflower, trying to get it as tall as we can We will be looking after the babies and cooking in the kitchen in our role play home corner
We will be growing our own beans, plants and vegetables for our garden.
We will continue to look at Ten Town.
In nursery we plan from the children’s interests and change our topic every week. To see what we will be learning about each week come and look at our learning wall in nursery.
