T
he making of a Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine cover is never easy, but, occasionally, picking a subject for one is. The 2013 season was one such year, as Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel — or Johnny Football, to some — dazzled both the state and the country with the greatest freshman season in the history of college football, becoming the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy. Our goal at DCTF was to bring to life the story of how he got to this point — a career that includes a youth without the pigskin, a remarkably productive high school career, and a wondrous inaugural campaign in the rugged SEC. Along with a special sponsor, Academy, DCTF offers you a 12-page photo section cataloguing Manziel’s still-budding career, plus a special pull-out poster for fans to commemorate the 2013 with for years to come. When it comes to football in the state of Texas, no one does it better than Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
