the correlation coefficient -the correlation coefficient (r) lies between -1 and 1, inclusive -an r value close to 0 suggests that there is no correlation between the 2 variables -a r correlation of 1 suggests that there is a perfect positive linear association present -an r value of -1 suggests that there is a perfect negative linear association present

Another Formula

r = Sxy SxSy

Ex) Observing if fast food affects hours of sleep

Sxy = 3.2

Sy= 1.3

Find the correlation coefficient if this is the data from times of fast food eaten 2 , 1, 3, 7, 2, 8, 0
