THE DETAILS ACMAT received a grant from Substance Abuse & Mental Health Association (SAMSHA) to begin this program and the grant is available to Allen County for up to five years, with potential for additional funds for years 6-10. ACMAT IS MOBILIZING OUR COMMUNITY TO WORK TOGETHER TO LESSEN SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES AND CREATE LONG TERM SOLUTIONS

Goals

Increase community collaboration • Creating awareness campaigns, educational opportunities, and initiatives. • Working with area agencies & groups to provide training and assistance • Collecting and analyzing data to find the real problems in our community •Increasing youth involvement in substance abuse prevention efforts

Objectives

ACMAT’s Drug Free Communities Grant program is driven by Drug Prevention Youth Action Teams in Humboldt, Iola, and Moran School systems. These students learn about alcohol, tobacco, and drugs and learn how they can affect their minds, bodies, and futures. They stand strong as positive role models with their peers and in our communtiy.

Reduce youth substance abuse • Reducing alcohol 30 day usage rates in 8th, 10th, and 12th grades by raising awareness, enhancing skills, reducing access/raising barriers, and modifying and changing policies • Reducing Tobacco/Smokeless Tobacco 30 day usage among 8th, 10th, and 12th grades by providing information, enhancing skills, and providing support • Reducing prescription drug 30 day use in 8th, 10th, and 12th grades by providing information, providing educational opportunities to the healthcare industry, placing permanent drug drop boxes & enhance drug takeback awareness
