LUCAS BEATTY • QB • R-Sophomore Gardner-Webb • Charlotte, N.C.
QUINN BACKUS • LB • Sophomore Coastal Carolina • Greenwood, S.C.
Beatty passed for 328 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions to spark Gardner-Webb to a 38-7 win over VMI and GWU’s largest margin of victory in a Big South game since 2003. He was 24-of-32 passing with a 202.35 pass efficiency rating and had seven completions of 20 yards-or-longer against the Keydets. Beatty connected on his first six passes of the game and his first TD pass gave GWU a 10-7 halftime lead. He opened the third quarter with a 64-yard touchdown pass, and later connected on a 24-yard scoring hookup on fourth down. Beatty’s final TD pass was a 47-yarder to complete the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ 28-point third quarter, as he was 7-of-11 for 177 yards and three scores in the stanza.
Backus had 15 tackles (seven solo, eight assisted), including 1.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack, one forced fumble and an interception in Coastal’s 36-12 win over Liberty. He had eight second-half tackles, including his sack, as the Chanticleers held Liberty to just 31 rushing yards in the second half. Backus forced a fumble on his sack on a 3rd-and-8 play, while his half tackle-for-loss forced a punt near the end of the third quarter. He cemented the win with an interception on the Flames’ final drive of the game.
BO LINDSEY • P • Senior Gardner-Webb • Roebuck, S.C.
DEMARCUS WHITE • WR • Freshman Gardner-Webb • Miami, Fla.
Lindsey punted five times for a 46.8 yard average against the Keydets and enjoyed a net average of 41.0. He pinned two balls inside the 20-yard line and had punts of 52, 51 and 50 yards as well. VMI managed just one return for nine yards and its average start off Lindsey’s punts was its own 20-yard line.
White caught three passes for 113 yards and two scores against VMI. He started the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ third quarter rally with a 64-yard touchdown on GWU’s first possession of the second half. White, who entered the game with just two catches for 12 yards, added a 47-yard scoring catch with 2:06 to play in the third quarter to cap the game’s scoring.

STONY BROOK CAN CLINCH AT LEAST A SHARE OF BIG SOUTH TITLE THIS SATURDAY Stony Brook is 4-0 in Big South play for the fourth consecutive year, and can clinch at least a share of the Big South championship with a victory this Saturday against VMI. The Seawolves could clinch the outright title with a victory coupled with losses this weekend by Coastal Carolina AND Liberty. The Seawolves are looking for their third consecutive 5-0 start this weekend, and the Big South has had a team open 5-0 in Conference action each of the past four seasons -- Liberty in 2008, 2009 and 2011, and Stony Brook in 2010 and 2011. MAYSONET EYES ANOTHER BIG SOUTH CAREER RECORD Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET is tied for second in Big South history with 46 career touchdowns and needs to reach the end zone one more time to match the all-time record of 47, held by Coastal Carolina’s AUNDRES PERKINS (2003-06). Maysonet’s 276 career points scored are sixth overall in League annals, and third-most among non-kickers. POLL POSITION Stony Brook is ranked No. 9 this week in both the FCS Coaches poll and The Sports Network national ranking. It is the first time that a Big South member has been ranked in BOTH polls each of the first 10 weeks of the regular-season (including preseason), as well as the highest ranking for a Big South program at this point of the season since 2005 when Coastal Carolina was ranked No. 8 in the ESPN/ USA Today Coaches poll and No. 9 by The Sports Network. The last time a Big South program was ranked inside the Top 10 in a national poll was 2006 when Coastal Carolina was No. 9 in the final CSN Coaches Poll. CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE WON IN NOVEMBER As the calendar turns to November this week, three-time Big South football champion Stony Brook is 8-3 ( =72.7 percent) in November regular-season games during its time in the Big South. Four-time champ Liberty is 21-9 ( =70.0 percent) since 2002 during the month of November, while four-time champion Coastal Carolina is 22-6 ( =78.6) in its history in regular-season games in November. In fact, the Chanticleers are the only Big South member to win a game in November every season since 2003. OCTOBERFEST Liberty’s 17-game win streak in the month of October ended this past Saturday with its 36-12 loss at Coastal Carolina. It was the Flames’ first defeat in the 10th month of the calendar year since Oct. 18, 2008 against Lafayette at home, as well as LU’s first Conference loss in the month of October since 2006. Meanwhile, Stony Brook has now won 10 consecutive games in October.

ALLENTOWN Charleston Southern RB TEDDY ALLEN rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns this past Saturday against Edward Waters, becoming the first Buccaneer with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games during the Big South’s 11-year football history. COAST IS CLEAR Coastal Carolina’s 36-12 victory over Liberty was its second-largest over the Flames since winning by 27 points in a 33-6 victory in 2004. The Chanticleers held LU to 86 rushing yards and 265 total yards -- Liberty’s fewest in a Big South game in both categories since gaining just 55 on the ground and 165 overall against Charleston Southern in 2009. Saturday’s 24-point defeat at Coastal was Liberty’s second-worst in a Big South game since the aforementioned 2004 contest against the Chants, while the 12 points was the Flames’ fewest in a League tilt since scoring seven points against VMI in 2005. MIGUEL’S MAYSONERY Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET has rushed for 1,502 yards this season -- the second-highest singleseason total in League annals. He is 132 rushing yards away from breaking his own Big South singleseason record of 1,633 he set last season, and is on pace for 1,836 this year. Maysonet, who is the first player in Big South history to surpass 1,000 rushing yards through the first seven games of the season, is averaging 166.9 rushing yards per game, pacing way ahead of the Big South single-season record of 136.4 that Liberty’s RASHAD JENNINGS set in 2008. MR. BICENTENNIAL Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET recorded his Big South single-season record third 200-yard rushing game this season with 212 this past Saturday at Presbyterian College. He is second all-time in League annals with three career 200-yard rushing games. Meanwhile, Maysonet has 14 rushing touchdowns this season, just three away from tying the Big South single-season record of 17 set by Liberty’s RASHAD JENNINGS in 2008. POINT OF ORDER Liberty owns the Big South record for most consecutive games with a point scored at 82. Meanwhile, Gardner-Webb has not been shutout in its last 52 games, followed by Stony Brook (49) and VMI (28).

BIG SOUTH’S “BB&T GAME OF THE WEEK” CONTINUES THIS SATURDAY ON ESPN3 The Big South’s television “BB&T Game of the Week” package continues this Saturday with Coastal Carolina at Gardner-Webb live at 1:30pm on ESPN3. MATT HOGUE (play-by-play) and NATE ROSS (analyst) will call the action from Spangler Stadium. The Big South Conference has its largest football TV package ever in 2012, as a League-record 27 games will be televised this season. Overall, the Big South will appear on television every week of the season for the first time in the League’s 11-year football history, and will also have a “Game of the Week” carried on ESPN3 during all seven weeks of the Conference season for the first time. The Big South’s Conference TV slate features seven games on ESPN3 and an additional two on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). NORRELL IS NO DOUBT Stony Brook WR KEVIN NORRELL leads the Big South with 1,060 receiving yards and 117.8 per game. He is 22 yards away from breaking the Conference’s single-season record of 1,081 that was established by Liberty’s CHRIS SUMMERS in 2010. Norrell, who is the seventh different Big South player with at least 10 touchdown receptions in a season, is also pacing ahead of Summers’ record for receiving yards per game. Meanwhile, Norrell has tied the Big South record for most consecutive 100-yard receiving games with four, and his 22.6 yards per catch average is also on pace to break the Conference’s singleseason mark. I KNOW I CRAN, I KNOW I CRAN Gardner-Webb TE SETH CRANFILL has 33 receptions this season, the most by a Big South tight end thus far and sixth overall in the Conference. He is two away from breaking the Conference singleseason record for most receptions by a tight end. That mark is 34 and was set by Coastal Carolina’s DAVID DURAN in 2010. Cranfill had nine receptions against Samford in Week 3, establishing a Big South single-game record for most catches by a tight end. 30 FOR 30 ENCORE Charleston Southern has scored 30 points in three consecutive games, its first such streak since reeling off four-straight 30-point games in winning its final four games of the 2009 season. TURNING THE SHIP AROUND Charleston Southern’s three-game win streak has moved the Bucs’ season record to 4-4. It is the first time that CSU has a .500 record since being 5-5 after Week 10 of the 2009 campaign. That year was also the last time the Buccaneers won at least five games (6). Meanwhile, CSU’s 2-1 Big South record is its best League start since 2006 when the Bucs were also 2-1 after three Conference contests. The Buccaneers are looking for their first 3-1 Big South mark since 2005 when CSU tied for the Big South championship with a 3-1 record. The last time Charleston Southern won three Big South games was in 2009. RECORD RUSH Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET has scored a rushing touchdown in each of SBU’s first nine games of the season, becoming the first Big South player to open the campaign with nine-straight contests with a rushing touchdown. He has 14 rushing touchdowns already this season and 41 in his Stony Brook career, becoming the third Big South player with more than 40. Maysonet needs two rushing TDs to move into second-place and six to break the Conference record of 46 (AUNDRES PERKINS). BYRD WATCHING Presbyterian College RB LANCE BYRD, who moved into the Big South’s all-time Top 10 rushing leaders in Week 7, is sixth in League history with 2,503 career rushing yards. He needs 358 to crack the Top 5. PASSING GRADES Coastal Carolina QB ARAMIS HILLARY has thrown a touchdown pass in 10 consecutive games (18 total), and is the first Coastal Carolina signal-caller to throw a TD strike in the first eight games of the season since TYLER THIGPEN did so in all 12 games of the 2006 season. Hillary is the fourth player in Big South history to have a touchdown pass streak of at least 10 games. PURE ESSENCE Stony Brook QB KYLE ESSINGTON is tied for seventh in Big South history with 39 career touchdown passes, and needs one to become the seventh QB with 40. He tied the Big South single-game record with five touchdown passes against Charleston Southern in Week 6, and is on the cusp of becoming the just the second Big South quarterback in history with back-to-back seasons with 20 TD passes. Charleston Southern’s COLLIN DRAFTS did it three consecutive years from 2004-06. MARGINAL NOTE Ten of the 12 Big South Conference games this season have been decided by double figures ( =83.3 percent), including five by at least 30 points, and the average winning margin thus far is an all-time high 24.5 points. The highest average margin of victory for a full Conference season is 20.8 points (2010).

MEET THE BIG SOUTH’S ALL-TIME LEADING RUSHER -- MIGUEL MAYSONET Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET, who became the Big South’s all-time leading rusher in Week 6 when he eclipsed the record of 3,633 that was held for three-plus seasons by Liberty’s RASHAD JENNINGS, is now the only player in Big South history with more than 4,000 career rushing yards. Maysonet’s record total stands at 4,263, and based on his season average of 166.9 rushing yards per game, he is on track to end the regular-season at 4,597. 50 SHADES OF GREY Liberty scored a season-high 56 points at Presbyterian College in Week 7, the fourth consecutive season that the Flames have scored at least 50 points a Big South game. Stony Brook scored 56 points against the Blue Hose this past Saturday, giving the Seawolves four consecutive seasons with a 50-point Big South game as well. Both schools share the longest such streak in League history. SEAWOLVES’ LOOKING TO TIE BIG SOUTH RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE HOME WINS Stony Brook has won 11 consecutive home games, a streak that began Sept. 24 of last year. It is tied for the second-longest home win streak in Big South history and one away from matching the Big South record of 12 that was set by Coastal Carolina (2004-05) and matched by Charleston Southern (200507). During their streak, the Seawolves are averaging 45.1 points (including eight 40-point games) while holding their visitors to an average of 16.5 points. THIS WEEK’S 30 FOR 30 Gardner-Webb has scored 30 points in a Big South game twice this season, its most since scoring 30 points in back-to-back Conference contests in 2008. The Runnin’ Bulldogs have reached 30 points three times this season, the most since doing it six times in 2008. Meanwhile, Gardner-Webb’s 31-point victory over VMI this past Saturday was its largest margin of victory in a Big South game since shutting out Charleston Southern 46-0 in 2003. In addition, GWU’s 38 points against VMI was its most in a Big South game since scoring 55 against the Keydets in a triple-overtime contest in 2005. RETURN ON INVESTMENT Coastal Carolina has rushed for more than 200 yards in three-straight games and is averaging 252.7 yards in that span. It is the Chanticleers’ longest such streak since surpassing 200 rushing yards in four consecutive games in 2007. Coastal has rushed for more than 200 yards in a game 46 times in its history and is 41-5 in those contests. THE BIG 4-0 Liberty kicker JOHN LUNSFORD and WESLEY SKIFFINGTON have both made four field goals from at least 40 yards this season. Lunsford’s treys have averaged 45.8 yards, while Skiffington’s average is 44.5. Lunsford booted a career-long 50-yard field goal this past Saturday at Coastal Carolina, becoming the second Big South freshman kicker to hit a 50-yarder in a game. VMI’s BARRETT WAY (53) was the first in 2004. OCHO-TRES VMI QB ERIC KORDENBROCK connected on an 80-yard touchdown pass play with WR JAMES ROGERS this past Saturday at Gardner-Webb, making Kordenbrock the first quarterback in Big South history with three career 80-yard pass plays. He has recorded one in each of his three seasons -- an 80-yard TD pass to MARIO SCOTT at Stony Brook as a freshman in 2010, an 83-yarder to AARON LEWIS vs. Gardner-Webb as a sophomore in 2011, and now the 80-yard scoring play to Rogers against the Runnin’ Bulldogs this past weekend. BUCKING THE TREND Traditionally a passing team during its time in the Big South, Charleston Southern has rushed for 987 yards during its three-game win streak, and average of 329.0 yards per game. The Bucs are averaging 5.64 yards per carry during this span as well. On the season, CSU is second in the League with 206.9 rushing yards per game. BURNING UP THE HOUSE Liberty has won a Big South-record 16 consecutive home Conference games. During this stretch, the Flames have scored 723 points (45.2 points per game), scored more than 30 points in 15 contests, and has held its League brethren to 309 points (19.3). The last Big South team to defeat Liberty inside Williams Stadium was Gardner-Webb on Oct. 21, 2006 (27-24). WOLF TRAP Stony Brook has won 12 consecutive home Big South games -- the second-longest streak in Conference history and trailing Liberty’s current 16-game span. The Seawolves have scored 482 points during their string (40.2 points per game), have scored more than 30 points in 10 contests -- including the last seven over 40, and have held the Conference membership to 188 points (15.7 average). The last Big South team to defeat Stony Brook inside LaValle Stadium was Gardner-Webb on Nov. 1, 2008 (34-33).

HE’S JUST PAT Liberty WR PAT KELLY set the Big South single-game record with 16 receptions this past Saturday at Coastal Carolina, breaking the old mark of 15 held by former teammate CHRIS SUMMERS. Kelly now owns two of three highest single-game reception totals, as he had 14 catches at Montana in Week 3. Meanwhile, his 16-catch game moved him into eighth all-time in Big South history with 145 career receptions, and he needs seven to move into seventh. Kelly also cracked the League’s all-time Top 10 in career receiving yards during the Coastal Carolina game, and is ninth in history with 1,889. He is 111 receiving yards shy of becoming the seventh player in Conference annals with 2,000 career receiving yards. BEATTY ON IT Gardner-Webb QB LUCAS BEATTY threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns this past Saturday against VMI. It was his third 300-yard passing game of the season -- the most by a GWU quarterback since DEVIN CAMPBELL had three in 2008. Beatty is the first Runnin’ Bulldog with a 4-TD pass game since STAN DOOLITTLE had four against Savannah State in 2007, and the first GWU signal-caller with four touchdown passes in a Big South contest since NICK ROBERTS threw four TD strikes at VMI on Oct. 18, 2003. MEN WITH A PURPOSE Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET and Presbyterian’s MICHAEL RUFF each reached all-purpose yard milestones in Week 6. Maysonet became the sixth Big South player with 4,000 career all-purpose yards in the Charleston Southern game, and is now third in League history with 4,807. He needs 193 yards to become the third player with 5,000. Ruff became the 12th player in the Conference record books with 3,000 career all-purpose yards during the VMI game, and is currently 10th all-time at 3,287. Presbyterian College RB LANCE BYRD is 140 yards away from 3,000 in his career. DOUBLE DOWN Liberty is the Big South’s active leader for most consecutive games scoring in double figures at 26, the fifth-longest streak in Big South history. The Flames took over the top spot after Stony Brook’s streak of 28 consecutive games was snapped last season on Sept. 3 at Buffalo, as the Seawolves managed just a touchdown against the Bulls. HE LOOKS DASHING AT 50 Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET had a 66-yard run this past Saturday at Presbyterian College, his sixth rush from scrimmage of at least 50 yards this season. Of those six, three have gone for touchdowns (84, 71 and 52 yards). In Week 6, Maysonet had a 64-yard run and 58-yard scamper at Coastal Carolina, the first Big South player since Gardner-Webb’s KENNY LITTLE in 2011 to have two 50-yard rushes in the same game. BO KNOWS PUNTING Gardner-Webb P BO LINDSEY is averaging 43.2 yards per punt, the highest punting average in the Big South since former Runnin’ Bulldog MICHAEL HANNA averaged 43.5 yards per punt in 2006. Lindsey’s average is currently the third-highest in a season in the Conference record books. Meanwhile, Lindsey is averaging an impressive 46.3 yards per punt in Big South action. ROUSING TO THE OCCASION Presbyterian College RB DEMARCUS ROUSE has nine rushing touchdowns this season, the most by a Blue Hose since PC joined the Big South Conference in 2008 and the school’s single-season record at the Division I level. Rouse is tied for second in the Big South with three multi-touchdown games, including two games with three rushing scores. The last time Presbyterian College had a player with 10 rushing touchdowns in a season was in 1978. MASTRO OF THE UNIVERSE Coastal Carolina junior NICCOLO MASTROMATTEO is the third player in Big South history with at least 100 combined kickoff/punt returns in a career. He reached the mark in Week 8 against VMI with his 53rd career punt return. Mastromatteo is the Big South’s career leader for punt returns, having become the all-time leader as a sophomore, and is third in League annals with 423 career punt return yards. He is third in Big South history with 103 combined kick returns in his career (47 KR, 56 PR). DOUBLED UP Liberty owns the Conference record for most consecutive Big South games scoring in double figures at 37. Stony Brook has the next-longest active streak at 26 games. Meanwhile, the Flames have scored in all 49 of their Conference games since 2002, while VMI has tallied points in all 47 of its League contests since joining the Big South in 2003. Presbyterian College is the final Conference member to have not been shut out in a League contest (22 games).

LOUD BARK Gardner-Webb scored 28 points in the third quarter against VMI this past Saturday, the most points scored in one quarter by a Big South member since Week 2 when Stony Brook scored 28 in the first quarter against Pace. The last team to score at least 28 points in a quarter in a Big South game was Liberty on Oct. 9, 2010 against Charleston Southern. The Flames scored 28 points in the fourth quarter in defeating the Bucs, 44-20. SOLO ARTIST Stony Brook DB DOMINICK REYES is 10th in Big South history with 144 career solo tackles, and is currently 22nd with 242 career total tackles. He needs five to move into 21st. Meanwhile, Reyes has 98 career assisted tackles as well. HUBBA BUBBA Gardner-Webb kick returner J.J. HUBBARD is averaging 25.6 yards per punt return and 24.1 yards on kickoff returns. He is shy of the 1.2 punt returns per game average needed to qualify for the Big South and NCAA leaders. Still, Hubbard has amassed 804 combined kick return yards this season, which is 10th in a single-season in Big South history. In Week 7 against MidAmerica Nazarene, Hubbard had a 50-yard punt return and a 63-yard kickoff return to become the second Big South player this season and in League history to have a 60-yard kickoff return and 50-yard punt return in the same game. Liberty’s KEVIN FOGG was the first when he had a 77-yard punt return touchdown and 67-yard kickoff return against Norfolk State in Week 2. LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP Stony Brook QB KYLE ESSINGTON and WR KEVIN NORRELL have connected on four touchdown pass plays of at least 50 yards this season. In Week 1, it was an 89-yard touchdown pass against Central Connecticut State -- the second-longest pass play in Big South history. In Week 2, it was an 86-yard scoring strike against Pace -- the fourth-longest pass play in Conference annals. In Week 3, the duo hooked up for a 63-yard TD strike at Syracuse. This past Saturday at Presbyterian College the tandem connected on a 51-yard scoring pass. Essington and Norrell are the first quarterback-receiver combination with two 80-yard pass plays in the League’s record books, while Norrell is the first Big South player with two 80-yard catches. THIS NOTE IS TOTALLY OFFENSIVE TO DEFENSES Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET and Coastal Carolina QB ARAMIS HILLARY each surpassed 4,000 career total offensive yards in Week 8, joining 11 other Big South players in this club. Maysonet’s career tally stands at 4,263, while Hillary sits at 4,231. Both are within reach of 10th-place, which is currently occupied by former Presbyterian College QB BRANDON MILEY (4,380). SKIFF & WESSON Stony Brook kicker WESLEY SKIFFINGTON is second in Big South history with 170 career point-aftertouchdown kicks and is eight away from becoming the all-time leader. Meanwhile, he booted his 40th and 41st career field goals in Week 8 to become the fourth player in League annals with 40, and is two shy from moving into second-place all-time. Skiffington is third among the Conference’s all-time kick scoring leaders with 293 points as well as 10-point kicking games with eight. He is seven points shy of becoming the second kicker in the Big South record book with 300 points.

HE’S NUMBER 1 For the fourth consecutive week, Stony Brook QB KYLE ESSINGTON is the national leader in passing efficiency with a 191.12 rating. The Big South single-season record is 167.42 (Coastal Carolina’s TYLER THIGPEN in 2006), while the NCAA FCS single-season record is 204.6 by William & Mary’s SHAWN KNIGHT in 1993. Essington is looking to become the first Big South QB to lead the nation in passing efficiency, while his current rating would be the fourth-highest in NCAA FCS Division I history. STONY BROOK’S MIGUEL MAYSONET ON PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST For the sixth time since 2006, the Big South Conference has an official candidate for the top offensive individual honor in FCS. Stony Brook RB and reigning Big South Offensive Player of the Year MIGUEL MAYSONET is among the 20 candidates for the 2012 Walter Payton Award. Maysonet is just the second Big South running back to make the list, joining former Liberty rusher and current Jacksonville Jaguar RASHAD JENNINGS, who finished 8th in the voting in 2008. 2,000-ALL-PURPOSE YARD ODYSSEY Stony Brook RB MIGUEL MAYSONET leads the Big South with 1,792 all-purpose yards, the seventhhighest single-season total in Big South history. Maysonet is averaging 199.1 yards per game, which is pacing ahead of the Conference record of 187.8 set last season by Maysonet’s former teammate BROCK JACKOLSKI. Maysonet’s five games with 200 all-purpose yards ties the Big South single-season mark, and he is on pace to finish the regular-season with 2,190.

SBU enjoyed a 38:06 to 21:54 advantage in time of possession, was 11-of-17 on third-down conversions and stopped Army’s two fourth-down attempts. Stony Brook is the first Big South team to keep an FBS opponent from scoring a touchdown. BLUE MAN GROUP Presbyterian College RB tandem DEMARCUS ROUSE and LANCE BYRD each rushed for more than 100 yards in Week 8 at Charleston Southern. Rouse had 109 on 12 carries, while Byrd gained 102 on 12 attempts. It was the third time since joining the Big South that PC has had two 100-yard rushers in the same game. All three have occurred in a Conference contest and with Byrd as one-half of the duo. BALANCING ACT For the second time in Big South history, a League member has a 1,000-yard rusher and 1,000-yard receiver in the same season. WOODRUM ADDED TO JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST Liberty redshirt-freshman QB JOSH WOODRUM was added to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List two weeks ago as an official candidate for the National Freshman of the Year. Since becoming Liberty’s starting quarterback in Week 3, Woodrum is 135-of-189 passing ( =71.4 percent) for 1,515 yards and nine touchdowns in his six starts under center. He also is 3-3 in that span with a 146.01 efficiency rating. It was Coastal’s second-longest interception return and the first CCU interception for a TD since DOMINIQUE DAVENPORT’s 17-yard score versus Western Illinois in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Playoffs. * LB QUINN BACKUS remains on pace to become Coastal’s single-season tackles leader. The sophomore has 90 stops (11.25 per game) to rank second in the Big South and eighth in the nation. If he continues at his current pace, Backus will finish with 123 tackles, which would break the CCU single-season record of 116, set by LB JAMAR LEATH in 2006.
