Order of Worship “I have held many things in my hands and have lost them all. *THE HYMN OF CELEBRATION NO. 160 “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart”

(Verses 1-4)

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: People of God, do not store up treasures on earth. People: We will store up for ourselves treasures in heaven! Leader: People of God, do not store your treasures where moth and rust will consume them! People: We will put our faith in God, not in treasures that can be stolen, depreciated, lost or destroyed. Leader: People of God, Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters; you will hate the one and love the other!” People: Help us, Lord, to serve you. Give us wisdom not to be servants on mammon. Leader: So enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction! People: The gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Put us on the road to life! Leader: For where your treasure is, there your hearts will be also. People: Lord, may we find our treasure, our hope, and our joy in you! *THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE NO. 160

*** THE INVITATION TO PRAYER (Leader) THE UNISON PRAYER Everlasting God, as we move forward on our journey of faith, you have entrusted much to our careful management. Keep us awake and sober, equipping us with faith and love. For we know that talents multiply when they are invested, and faith grows as it is shared with others. The joy of salvation is a gift we would share. Help us to find time to be silent before you and to find occasions to encourage one another. Fill us with that radiant joy which comes from deep gratitude as we dedicate ourselves to being faithful stewards of what you have put into our hands. Now, claim us again as your children, blessed by hope and sustained by your Holy Spirit, as we lift our prayers of confession before you… THE WORDS OF ASSURANCE (Leader) THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. THE OFFERING OF OUR TITHES AND GIFTS “Give liberally and be ungrudging when you do so, for on this account the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.” Deuteronomy 15:10
