Dear Alumni, We have just enjoyed another terrific Alumni Weekend here at George Mason University! If you were here, I hope I had an opportunity to say hello. If you weren’t here, it’s never too early to start thinking about next year! Alumni Weekend is a marvelous opportunity to reconnect with old friends and with your university and college. You always have a home with us here at CHSS. Our Third Annual Beer & Honey Tasting was a great success! We had a wide selection of beers from Port City Brewery in Alexandria, honey from places near and far, and delicious food. We really enjoyed sharing our event with New Century College (NCC). The college and NCC are proud to be teaming up with the Sweet Virginia Foundation to kick off a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, called HiveStarter. The university and Sweet Virginia Foundation—Northern Virginia’s charitable beekeeping cooperative— aim to address the significant problem of disappearing honeybees. You can learn more about the threat to our honeybees, the consequences of the problem, and what we can do to solve it by taking a look at our campaign. An important part of our Alumni Weekend is celebrating the college’s distinguished alumni (pictured above). We are very proud of our alumni accomplishments, and I am delighted to introduce you to this year’s group:
Emily Chamlee-Wright, BA '88, MA ’90, PhD economics ’93. Jane Haddad, BA '82, MA ’84, PsyD ’86. Jacob Jenkins, BA Integrative Studies ’07, MPA ’11. Lucy Jilka, MFA Poetry ’95. Glenn Magee, BA Philosophy ’89. Leya Mundrake, MA Global Affairs ’12. Tuan Nguyen, BIS ’12. Sharon Ringley, BA Government and Politics ’93. Robert Townsend, PhD History ’09. Alums, we want to celebrate you and your accomplishments! Please keep in touch! Yours in Patriot Pride,
