AWANA Clubs This is the 38th year of Awana at Plano Bible, and Awana has started off with a bang. Attendance has been great and increasing each week. I want to thank everyone for all the help and hard work they are putting in. Because of the attendance numbers, we could still use a few more helpers, listening to verses. Would you consider helping on Wednesday nights, from 6:30–8:05PM. Our AWANA Ministry continues to have an impact within our community. On our 1st night, we had 5 Clubbers make a decision to accept Christ, as their Savior. PRAISE THE LORD!!! Plano Bible Church has AWANA programs for Cubbies; 3, 4 and 5 years; Sparks, K thru 2nd grade; Truth and Training, 3rd thru 6th grades. Check-in starts at 6:15pm. WHATS MY ROLE AS A LEADER? At the Awana Ministry Conference, Carol and I we saw some “POCKET GUIDES”, for leaders. The following is part of what is in the pocket guide. We thought it would be great to share now. We will soon have some POCHET GUIDES for every Awana worker. Handbook Time: Pray Listen to Questions and Answer and Verses. Explain how the verse relates to Questions and Answers. Keep Records Build Relationships Define and Pronounce hard words. Use games to help clubbers memorize Large Group Time: Sit with clubbers. Sing along with worship. Help clubbers pay attention. Listen and learn along with clubbers. Assist clubbers to find verses in the Bible. Cheer for your clubbers during awards. Game Time: Stand with kids on line. Clarify game rules. Encourage cheering. Keep kids lined up. Choose players. Give high fives. Pay Attention. Encourage teamwork. THE AWANA STORE Clubbers earn AWANA Shares (AWANA dollars) for completing sections and participating in activities. About once a month the Clubber go shopping at the AWANA Store. They always look forward to their little shopping trip. So we now need to stock the AWANA Store. The Store is in need of a variety of miscellaneous items. These items are given to kids as rewards for accomplishments throughout the year. We also need help running the AWANA Store, once a month. . Vince & Carol Zito, AWANA Commanders

New Ladies CEH Class Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free, a new women’s CEH elective class, will begin on October 18th. Ladies, we have all experienced defeats and failures, trouble and turmoil. We have all experienced a selfish heart, a shrewish spirit, anger, envy and bitterness. And, we ache to do things over, to have lives of harmony and peace. In her book Lies Women Believe, author Nancy Leigh DeMoss exposes those areas of deception most commonly believed by Christian women: Lies about themselves: I should not have to live with unfulfilled longings. Lies about sin: I cannot walk in consistent victory over sin. Lies about their marriage: If I submit to my husband, I will be miserable. Lies about their emotions: I can’t control my emotions. Lies about their circumstances: I just can’t take any more. Nancy Leigh DeMoss sheds light on how we can be delivered from bondage and set free to walk in God’s grace, forgiveness, and abundant life. This study offers the most effective weapon to counter and overcome Satan’s deceptions – God’s truth. If you would like to purchase a book and study guide, please sign up at the welcome desk in the foyer.

October Birthdays
Let us remember during this fall harvest season as the farmers are working hard and long hours to bring in the crops that there is a spiritual harvest which Jesus wants us to pray much and work hard by His grace and Holy Spirit empowering us to bring in a harvest of people to be saved and becoming fruitful disciples of Christ. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37,38 All of us at PBC have a strategic part in this awesome work of Christ in making disciples of all nations starting right here in Plano and beyond. Life is so short and fleeting lets seek our Glorious Lord and Savior Jesus daily in His Holy Word and prayer to get to know Him better individually and corporately as the family of God at PBC and as we grow in the sufficient grace of Jesus we share this grace with our family, friends, neighbors who desperately need eternal life and glory found only in Jesus!!! I We have been discovering from our study in 2 Corinthians 5 that we are ambassadors for Christ and that the love of Christ should be controlling us. From chapter 3 we learned that our adequacy or sufficiency to minister to others does not come from our own strength but from God who makes us effective servants of Christ and the New Covenant through the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. Ephesians 3:20,21 “Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen” Let’s go forward together with joy and anticipation because of our Great and Loving Savior Jesus and His empowering presence and promises working in us and through us. Thanks for your love, prayers and work for Christ’s Eternal Glory, 2 Tim. 2:10 Pastor Ed

JOB OR MINISTRY? A job is one you choose; A ministry is one Christ chooses for you. A job depends on your abilities; A ministry depends on your availability to God. In a job you expect to receive; In a ministry you expect to give. A job done well brings you self-esteem; A ministry done well brings honor to Jesus Christ. In a job you give something to get something; In a ministry you return something that has already been given to you. A job well done has temporal remuneration; A ministry well done brings eternal rewards.
The next meeting of GAB (Gals And Books) will be held on Monday, October 26, at Panera in Yorkville. Come at 6:00 p.m. to eat, or at 7:00 for the book discussion. We are currently reading Undetected by Dee Henderson.

Cookbook News: With continued failed attempts to finish the church cookbook there has been a suggestion of putting a “Recipe of the Month” into the bulletin. Perhaps one day the book will be complete but until then here is one preview of the delicious recipes provided. Enjoy!
