Year 10 Work Experience Week - June 25th to June 29th 2018 inclusive. Dear Parents/Carers Work experience is a vital part of Year 10 life and requires the students to be proactive and organised. The process begins with the students identifying a potential placement, with your guidance. When choosing a work experience placement, students should consider their future career aspirations. The students should make contact with the potential workplace and request a week’s placement from 25th June to 29th June 2018 inclusive. We will share details of the many generous businesses who have agreed to offer placements with all of the students in Year 10. However, they do tend to get filled on a first come first served basis. Students are also very welcome to arrange a placement with a company which we have not placed students with before - you may have a contact who could provide them with a unique opportunity. Students will be directed towards employers who relate to their ideas of potential career paths and will be advised to call placements to secure a position for the work experience week. If an opportunity is offered to a student verbally, please ask them to inform their form tutor at the first opportunity, as this will avoid other students contacting the company for unavailable places. Once an indication of acceptance has been agreed by the placement please return the attached pro-forma to school. The form needs to be completed and returned to school by 30th November 2017. We will then contact the company and organise the various health and safety, risk assessments and other checks that are required. We use the services of an external company to validate the suitability and quality of the work experience placement hence the need for us to know which company a student has chosen to spend their work experience week this term. Thank you in anticipation of a positive response. Yours sincerely,
Mr L Gardner (Head of Year 10) Ms R Patel (Assistant Principal)
