Second Nature — Session 2— EXTRA! Ideas for Adults Date: October 22, 2017 Solomon: Unfailing Wisdom The Point: Christ-centered living chooses wisdom from God, not simply knowledge.

Get Into the Study Use the following information to introduce Question #1. Begin by sharing this news item: Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the National Football League, was recently questioned in an interview about why he thought quarterback Colin Kaepernick had not been hired by any team. Kaepernick played with the San Francisco 49ers in the past, but is not currently playing with any team. Goodell, who is paid more than $34 million a year as head of the football league, said – “I’m not a football expert.” Say: Maybe you are an expert in professional football – or maybe not, like the NRL Commissioner. Most of us might consider ourselves an expert in something. Then call attention to Question #1 (If you could be the leading expert in any field, what would it be?) (PSG, p. 75) and invite the group to respond. Study the Bible Begin by sharing this news item: John Richie is a Southwest Airlines captain who has been flying for 22 years. Richie keeps track of the number of th passengers who have flown with him. On May 5 , he reached the milestone of flying his one millionth passenger. To celebrate the occasion, he announced to all the passengers on his flight that he had a gift for that one millionth passenger. He surprised a woman – his one millionth passenger – by giving her a bottle of champagne and an envelope of cash that covered the cost of her ticket (the cash came from his wallet, not from Southwest). Say: Sometimes in life, we get more than we asked for (or even dreamed of). We will see that Solomon got much more than he asked for. Then call attention to Question #3 (When has God given you more than you asked for?) (PSG, p. 78) and invite the group to respond.
