I find it quite interesting that in the midst of the service last week the staff had snuck in a time for Pastor Appreciation Day. The interesting part was that it began with a slide presentation of photos representative of parts of my life. Besides the photo with two black eyes and a cracked nose, the others all represented happy and joyful times of my life as a child, a husband, a father, and a minister. With the message on my mind where Paul conveys that he fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith, I kept pondering these words as I traveled down memory lane. Paul was reflecting on his life when he penned these words as well. Could I have done more and could I have done less to advance the kingdom of God? The answer is yes to both. Hopefully what it does when we reflect is to turn our focus back on Jesus and God’s Word, for we were not meant to move forward in our own strength and instruction. It is never to beat ourselves up but to see where God has been at work and to learn from the times we trusted more in ourselves and our abilities than in God. As we complete the message Sunday, “Fought, Finished, and Kept”, it reminds me how important it is to keep our focus on God and His reward He has awaiting us. Paul, just like us, struggled as well. May his testimony and the words of Jesus encourage us not to veer off the path to the goal. Come join us Sunday we look forward in finishing the race, fighting the good fight, and keeping the faith. (2Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18) Blessings! Yours In Christ, Rick
