, I. Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of Jehovah is risen upon thee. 2. For, behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but Jehovah will arise upon thee,, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3. And nations shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. r ?What is the metaphysical meaning of: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of Jehovah is risen upon thee"? ; All people who are seeking to know God, at certain periods of their experiences, are lifted into states of mind •where they understand spiritual things. The understanding which they receive is, in metaphysics, called flight," and "the glory of Jehovah." When we are in j this state of consciousness we should arise and shine; that is, we should realize that we are lifted up and that we radiate the wisdom and the power of the spiritual man.. ; What is the meaning of verse 2: "For, behold,;, Qarkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the • peoples; but Jehovah will arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee" ? 1 ••'••'• The first illumination is of the mind. 1. The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2. To proclaim the year of Jehovah's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3. To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be^glorified. What is the effect on us of possessing a courageous spirit? W e strive to give it fitting expression. Everyone who is imbued with courage desires to justify the faith that is in him. "The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah" moves us to action. "Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings . . . to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound"! Spiritual awareness conditions us for every use to which divine love, wisdom, and power can be put, and such is the purpose of its bestowal, "that he may be glorified."

In the devotional reading of today's lesson, what vital points are brought out in verse 3? Verse 3 of the lesson refers to the new and beautiful viewpoint of life that comes to us when we have found. the Christ within ourselves. Instead of being covered with ashes, or thoughts of worry and sorrow, our heads will be surrounded with wreaths of spiritual joy. Instead of J dragging ourselves about under a; weary load of the sins and sorrows of! the world, we shall be filled withj praise, and joy wUl cover us and pro-| foot ua like a wonderful garment.. , *

What is the leading thought^ brought out in verse U? t Verse 4 explains how the wastes that have occurred in mind and in Doay, because of wrong thinking and wrong living, are repaired. Even ; conditions of evil and sickness that ) apparently were inherited from our ' ancestors are overcome by a realiza- i tion of our Christ perfection. Explain verse 5. Verse 5 shows how conditions that were once adverse, or that we did not understand (strangers), are forced to serve us and to contribute to our welfare and happiness. When man has found the Christ within, and directs his life according to the Christ standard, all outer conditions will ; work together for his good. Who is every man's priest? Every man is his own priest and is in communication with God through the Christ mind within him. All that the Father has is Christ's; therefore he who is one with Christ literally eats of the wealth of the nations. Who are in covenant with God? Persons who live the Christ life are in covenant with God continually, and their thoughts, words, and deeds are blessing people everywhere. They constantly are radiating health, happiness, and prosperity. Do a person's past sins prevent him from receiving blessings from God? No; no matter what a person's sins may have been, he will have a full portion of everlasting joy when he. has contacted the Christ within him.
