Substitutes and Winter Coaches Approved in October With the 2016-2017 school year moving along at full speed, October’s Board Meeting included a few personnel items requiring approval, including the addition of a few substitutes and the approval of Winter Coaches, all pending receipt of required clearances.

The Bedford Area School District Board of Education met on October 10th for a Work Session meeting and on October 18th for a regular business meeting, in the Board Conference Room at the Bedford High School. The Board President, Mr. Thomas Bullington, called the meetings to order. The “News & Notes” is a recapitulation of the business that transpired, written by the Board Secretary.

Extra Duty/Extra Pay Approvals:
Approval for Mrs. Dawn Ickes and Mrs. Stephanie Leibfreid to be advisors for WBE Studios.
Approval to accept the resignation of Mrs. Jennifer Decker as Reading Competition Advisor.
Approval of Mrs. Lindsay Regos as Memory Book Advisor.
Approval to accept the resignation of Mrs. Karen Eppley from the ABC Committee.
Approval of Mrs. Jennifer Lafferty for the ABC Committee.
Approval for Mrs. Shonda Clark as BHS Indoor Guard Advisor.
Approval to accept the resignation from Mrs. Janelle Henderson as BHS Cheerleading Coach, position 2 (1/2), effective 08/29/16, to remain as a volunteer coach.
Approval for Mrs. Casey Cover as Cheerleading Coach, position 2 (1/2), retroactive to 08/29/16.
Approval to begin a Student Athletic Trainer Program at BHS, in coordination with our athletic trainer service provider.
Approval for Mrs. Brenda Heit to be added to the list of volunteer cheerleading coaches.
Approval for Mrs. Kerri Hanks to be added to the list of volunteer cheerleading coaches.
Approval for PA Junior Classical League to hold two fundraisers for the 2016-2017 school year: Gourmet Lollipop Sale and Pie Shoppe.
Miscellaneous Approvals
Approval to contract with Gatter & Diehl to commission the BE HVAC System, at the proposed price of $35,000.00, plus expenses, to be paid from the Capital Reserve Fund.
21st Century:
Approval for the following individuals for the Incredible Years Advanced Program, beginning October 25, 2016, at the Bedford Elementary School:

Board Policy Manual Three amended policies for the Board Policy Manual received final approval during the October Board Meeting. The updated policies include:
Policy # 213—Assessment of Student Progress.
Policy # 247– Hazing.
Policy # 808—Food Services.
