ARCOLA BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING July 12, 2017 7:00 P.M.
A regular meeting of the Board of Education of Arcola Community Unit District #306 Arcola, Illinois was called to order in the Media Center at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 for the purpose of regular business. President Strader called the meeting to order. The following members answered roll call: Stout, Shonkwiler, Rothrock, Arrol and Strader. Others present were: Tom Mulligan, Jennifer Frichtl, Lisa Sigrist and David Porter. President Strader recognized the visitors and asked for public comment. There was none. There were no pending FOIA requests. Motion by Arrol, seconded by Shonkwiler, to approve the regular meeting minutes and closed session minutes of the June 14, 2017 meeting, the Special Board meeting minutes from June 27, 2017, and the Building Committee meeting minutes from July 5, 2017. Motion by Stout, seconded by Rothrock, to approve the revised Treasurer’s Report as of June 30, 2017 as submitted. Motion by Shonkwiler, seconded by Stout, to approve the payment of bills as submitted in the amount of $334,169.06. Administrative Team Reports ~~Dr. Mulligan, Superintendent – Dr. Mulligan mentioned that he had received nothing but good feedback regarding having teachers at the initial planning meeting. It was discussed that the meeting be moved from August 12th (the weekend before school starts) to the evening of August 21st so they could attend. Dr. Mulligan also gave a brief financial recap for FY2016-2017. The district ended the year in a much better position than initially predicted. Additionally, the state still owes the district around $350,000. Looking forward to FY2017-2018, he mentioned that the calculation for General State Aid could change in a positive direction depending on whether or not the Governor signs the evidence-based funding model. Motion by Shonkwiler, seconded by Stout, to enter executive session at 7:32 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.
