Guide Purpose This guide was created to assist Genesee County 4-H members, leaders, and volunteers in the awards and recognition application process. This comprehensive guide strives to contain a complete listing of all awards and recognition opportunities available through Genesee County 4-H. Keep in mind that club leaders have the option to design their own recognition program, so each club may vary. This guide DOES NOT include scholarship opportunities. Each section of this guide will contain the current awards available for that group (i.e. members, clubs, or volunteers). Award purpose and criteria will be listed with each award. “Club Specific Awards,” or those created by leaders for their specific clubs or programs, can be found in the last section. New awards will be noted as such.
Recognition Objective Recognition is the acknowledgment of an individual’s personal growth. With this understanding, Genesee County 4-H strives to offer a variety of recognition opportunities. In order to encourage and support our members and volunteers, we feel it is important to celebrate their dedication, accomplishments, and hard work. The purpose of recognition is to motivate 4-H members to participate, create, and achieve in 4-H, to encourage and support the learning efforts of young people, and to foster a sense of belonging. By reinforcing the efforts of our 4-H community we hope to build a stronger atmosphere of learning and growth for our 4-H youth. The balanced and creative use of recognition is an important element of successful programming. With this belief in mind, the Genesee County 4-H staff has created this guide to help members, leaders, and volunteers navigate the awards system of our County. Please consult this guide with any questions regarding Genesee County 4-H awards and recognition. If you have further questions regarding rewards or recognition, please contact us!
