JUNE EVENTS:

The First Graders are excited to go to the Maritime Aquarium in Mystic Connecticut on June 9th. The aquarium is a hands on/interactive experience that ties into our STEMscopes study of Part of Animals.

All library books are due back June 9. Please make every effort to have your child bring their book(s) back. Call or email the school library if you have any questions.

The Library welcomes the youth services librarians from the public libraries. Miss Danielle, Miss Melinda and Miss Rebecca from Valley Cottage Public Library will be visiting with students in June. They will be visiting with students in grades K-4 June 6-9 in the Library. On Wednesday, June 14th Miss Aldona, from the Nyack Public Library will be conduct two assemblies: one for kindergarten through grade 2, one for grades 3 and 4. The librarians will be reading to children, informing students how to obtain a library card and information on summer activities including summer reading program: Build a Better World…..Read! The Young Adult librarians from Valley Cottage and Nyack will be on hand to discuss summer reading and programs for young adults on Monday, June 5. The local librarians always have awesome presentations as well as encouraging book talks to make students want to discover their own super reading powers. We thank them all for coming and giving the students library flyers with summer programs and library information. It has been a pleasure reading and literacy learning with your children this year. Don’t forget to cool

DISMISSAL: Parents, we encourage you to follow normal dismissal procedures at all times. However, if you must dismiss children early on class trips, concerts, or moving up ceremony days, and if siblings are needed, please send notes to the attention of each child’s teacher via backpack on the event day so that teachers know what time to dismiss students to the office. A specific time is necessary; children may be traveling throughout the building. The student sign out book will be at the security desk on event days. Thank you for your cooperation.

Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students, as well as all new students at Valley Cottage are required to hand in a recent physical that was done within the past year.  Please keep your child home if he/she vomits before coming to school. Please do so before the start of the school day at 3537290. Voicemail is on 24/7 for you to leave a message.  Please do not email teachers for daily absences. Sincerely, Patricia Kozar, RN, Professional School Nurse
