[email protected] WHY DOES CANDIDATE WANT TO HOLD THE ABOVE OFFICE? The success of unmanned vehicles in military, law enforcement, and commercial applications is directly attributable to the vision of engineers, scientists and program managers currently in the unmanned vehicle industry. I believe that the future of unmanned vehicles is currently enrolled in our universities, colleges, and vocational and high schools. I would like to be president of the Emerald Coast Chapter of the AUVSI in order to develop contacts and bridges between the students of today and their industrial and military employers of the future. I have served on the ECC-AUVSI Board of Directors since the chapter’s inception and as the Vice-President/Secretary and most recently as president. I would like to continue to serve as president tool further assist the continued to growth in chapter membership and outreach. BRIEF BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Anil Raj received his M.D. from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1990. His interests in aerospace medicine research led him to the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory in Pensacola, FL, following a two year fellowship as a National Research Council Resident Research Associate at the NASA-Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX. Dr. Raj's interests focus around the human physiologic and psychological evaluation of spatial orientation and situation awareness. He has been involved with the development, test and evaluation phases of the US Navy/NASA Tactile Situation Awareness System. Since joining the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition as a research scientist in 1996, Dr. Raj has directed the development of human centered interfaces and the development of automated systems for tracking and analyzing human response characteristics in dynamic environments. Current work by his team (students, staff, contractors and faculty) focuses on the simultaneous control of multiple unmanned vehicles and the management of information flow from remote sensors for optimal operator workload.
