Recreational Soccer Program – Spring 2015 About the Program The OYAA Recreational Soccer Program offers organized recreational level soccer for youth of the community. This gives boys and girls an opportunity to have fun while learning individual and team soccer skills. This volunteer supported soccer league, which started play in 1989, has over 2,100 participants each season. RECREATIONAL REGISTRATION SPRING 2015: Recreational League Ages U5 through U18 All skill levels welcome Uniforms included u5, u6, u7, u8, u9/10, u11/12 Volunteer Parent Coaches All games are in Olentangy communities Players must be born on or before July 31, 2010 to be eligible to play. Recreational/Travel HSSA & MSSA Grades 7 & 8 regardless of age = MSSA o League = Middle School Soccer Assoc. Grades 9-12 = HSSA o League = High School Soccer Assoc. Information About Games Weather permitting; each recreational team will play an 8-Game schedule at various locations in the Olentangy School district. Most teams play games on Saturdays, with some games on weekday nights and Sunday afternoons in order to complete all of the scheduled games. Rained out games are made up if field space is available, but there are no refunds if all games cannot be played. The Spring 2015 Season will start as early as April 4, 2015. Coaches – We ALWAYS need good Coaches! Lack of coaches is the primary reason that players are turned away. Please volunteer, we provide training and support. Register yourself as a coach when you register your child. Coach Information and On-field clinics will be held in March Practices Practice times and location are determined by the coach and are limited to two per week. Attendance at practice is expected so players can learn.
This is how age determined: Players will be assigned to teams on the basis of their “soccer age” using the following birthdates. The “U” means “Under”. Age Guidelines set by US Youth Soccer Association U5 - August 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010 (coed) U6 – August 1, 2008 to July 31, 2009 U7 – August 1, 2007 to July 31, 2008 U8 – August 1, 2006 to July 31, 2007 U9/10 – August 1, 2004 to July 31, 2006 U11/12 – August 1, 2002 to July 31, 2004 (6th grade players born before August 1, 2002 will play in this age group) 7th and 8th grade players will play MSSA 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th players will play HSSA
Registration begins January 2, 2015 – The deadline for Spring 2015 registration is January 23, 2015. Returning Fall 2014 players get preference if registered by the deadline and WILL PLAY ON THEIR FALL TEAMS. New players will be placed as space permits. No Guarantees.
