RELATE
One Thing Do you set goals? Are they short or long term? Do you evaluate your progress? How? Discuss a situation where you encountered hardship while progressing toward a goal. How did you deal with it?
READ & REFLECT
Have you ever achieved a goal only to realize the end point was not what you had hoped for?
Mark 10:17-31 31 How does this story enrich your understanding of the “one one thing” thing referenced in Philippians 3:13? Can there be more than one thing? How does one know when their goal is the most important thing to them? What is your one thing? Do you have many? What are your spiritual gifts? How are you employing you yourr spiritual gifts toward pursuing your “one thing”?? What should one do if their spiritual gifts don’t align with the path they’re they on? Change their “one thing”, their spiritual gift, or their path?
RESPOND
Hebrews 12:1-2 Notice how “ev everything that hinders” is distinct from “the the sin that so easily entangles”.. Can these be two different things or are they part and parcel? How ow do you distinguish “everything that hinders” from tthings that refine? Can some criticism be helpful ful in one’s journey?
Act Contemplate the thingss that compete for prio priority in your life; then take some small steps to show your “one thing” is your true priority priority. Show your bank account, calendar, TV, etc. etc that there is one thing more important than them. Reflect Psalm 27:4 “One One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple?
