ODOSY OPENING DOORS FOR OUT OF SCHOOL YOUTH
ODOSY assists youth to achieve their goals in 3 major areas; obtaining employment, obtaining a secondary school diploma or its equivalent, enrolling in post-secondary education, occupational skills training, the military or qualified apprenticeship. Services are offered in 3 month cycles beginning in July, October, January and April, however youth may remain active with the program beyond their initial 3 month cycle as needed to achieve their goals. Youth are assisted in transitioning to their chosen goals; vocational training, post-secondary education and/or employment, prior to exit. Follow-up services are provided for at least 15 months after exit.
Helping our youth reach for the stars
Provided services include academic remediation, career exploration and planning activities, college and career readiness training, paid work experience, volunteer and job shadowing opportunities.
ODOSY works closely with each youth to help them determine their educational and career goals, and then provides incentives and support services designed to aid youth to achieve their goals. Examples include paying High School Equivalency test fees, helping youth and their families obtain ID documents for enrollment and employment, paying motor vehicle license fees, providing bus tickets, paying post-secondary education application fees and providing cash incentives for goals achieved. If you know an out-of-school youth who wants to connect with education and work opportunities, ODOSY may be able to assist them.
