Principal Accountabilities The Operations Team organises all of SwimTrek’s open water adventures – from recruiting and training guides to organising equipment/ formulating contracts with overseas partners to ensuring our trips are run to the highest safety standards. Managing the operations team, including recruitment and selection, conducting appraisals and setting and supervising workloads. Managing a large team of guides working both within the UK and overseas, including recruitment, work allocations and training. Managing Health and Safety, including: o Instilling a high quality culture of H&S within the organisation. o Reviewing and updating health and safety policy and procedures; o Reviewing incidents and near-misses; o Updating and implementing risk assessments; o Ensuring staff both in the UK and overseas are suitably trained for their role. o Ensuring legal compliance. Ensuring that all trips and SwimTrek activities are carefully planned and operate effectively, including: o Contracting partner services overseas. o Ensuring boats and safety craft have the relevant permissions and documents. o Ensuring all equipment on location is suitable and fit for purpose. Managing all aspects of trip feasibility, on-location quality control, including reviewing guide and customer feedback and travelling to locations as required. Managing budgets, including: o Planning and implementing a department budget, and focus on reducing inefficiencies; o Setting and ensuring compliance with trip budgets. o Recording and tracking costs in co-operation with the finance department. Guiding if and when required, either in the UK or overseas. Negotiating contractual arrangements with suppliers. Resolving operational issues promptly and effectively.

Knowledge and Training/Education Essential To hold or be able to hold a current SLSGB/RLSS Beach Lifeguard qualification or foreign equivalent.* To hold or be able to hold a First Aid at Work Qualification or foreign equivalent.* To hold or be able to hold an RYA Powerboat Level 2 Qualification and International Certificate of Competency.* To hold or be able to hold a Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.* To be able to manage, and make key decisions, on health and safety in an open water swimming context Knowledge of open water environments and associated risks. Desirable To be able to speak a foreign language.
Desirable Lifeguard Trainer / Assessor Qualification First Aid at Work Trainer / Assessor Qualification. NEBOSH Certificate (International/General) To hold a full Drivers Licence. Knowledge of effective open water swimming techniques and coaching;
