aitlyn Jenner is taking over the world. This week, she’s been spotted filming in LA for her new TV show, I Am Cait, and she’s really got into Instagram. The star posted a picture of herself with her new, also transgender, friends at home in Malibu with the caption, “Learn from those who have walked the path before you.” She also added #transisbeautiful, which was started by Orange Is The New Black’s transgender star Laverne Cox. Now, heat can reveal that it’s not just a hashtag they share – Laverne, 31, has been in constant phone contact

When we show her the comments she made on her Tumblr about how she and Caitlyn have advantages that other transgender people don’t have – like money and a job – Laverne laughs. “Caitlyn has even more privileges than me,” she says, before getting serious about what’s in store for Caitlyn. “I feel a responsibility [to other transgender people], very much so. And it’s tricky, because I have to balance being an actress with that responsibility. I mean, it’s very, very tricky.” Laverne, who was the first-ever
transgender cover star of Time magazine in June 2014 – has publicly praised Caitlyn on her blog, saying, “Yes, Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful. But what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul, the ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities. The love and devotion she has for her family and they have for her.” Speaking to heat, Laverne added that Caitlyn has to be careful that people don’t just pigeonhole her as “transgender”. “That’s what I love about Sophia Burset, the character I play in Orange Is The New Black. She is a beautiful, nuanced, complicated human being, who is more than her trans-identity.
