Organization: JUNEAU DANCE THEATRE (JDT) Position: Principal Teacher/Ballet Master
QUALIFICATIONS Three years (minimum) of experience teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of ballet, including pointe and classical variations. BA in Dance and/or professional equivalent. Ability to choreograph age and skill appropriate pieces. Must be responsible with a good work ethic, positive attitude, and thoughtful teaching approach. DUTIES AND COMPENSATION The Principal Teacher/Ballet Master will work closely with Artistic Director Zachary Hench and Executive Director Julie Diana. This position requires the following commitments:
Ballet instruction for beginner, intermediate and advanced level dancers, including pointe and variation classes. Class instruction will follow JDT’s current syllabus, unless otherwise approved by the Artistic Director. Rehearsal of all ballets and other dances set by JDT Directors. Choreography for short pieces as needed. Evaluation of students at the end of each semester. Start date: July 31, 2017 Starting salary $40,000-$50,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
