Saturday, June 13th, at 7:00am at Elm Grove Pool Please arrive at 6:45am to circle in. ALL SWIMMERS MUST CHECK-IN UPON ARRIVAL AT THE POOL. There will be a table with a list of all the swimmers. Please circle your name to indicate that you are at the meet. If you do not circle in your child/children, they may not be allowed to participate in the meet and will be scratched from the relays. After you check-in, find the team parent for your age group and get your heat assignments. It is not the responsibility of the team parent to keep up with your child during the meet. Their responsibility is getting the children to the ready bench at the appropriate time. Please do not park near the fire hydrant, in front of driveways and in no parking zones designated by signs. You may park at Elm Grove Elementary parking lot, but please do not park in the grass. The Elm Grove pool parking lot is for Board Members only.

Stroke Clinics Stroke clinics will be held at 7:30 a.m. prior to swim practice. They are open to the first 6 swimmers that sign up. On Tuesday, June 9th (Water Day) the stroke clinics will be held at Elm Grove pool from 7:30-8:00 a.m. Contact Kari or Robin during practice if you are interested, or through the Otters email at [email protected].
COACHES’ CORNER Hello Otters! Wow, way to go VGO! I am so proud of everyone who helped bring our team to victory on Saturday! I would also like to thank everyone who arrived on time to the meet, you make the coaches’ job so much easier and we really appreciate it! Congratulations to all who qualified for the Summer Champs swim meet. Remember to sign up for the coaches’ Stroke Clinic this week and next week, we will be working on stroke and turn technique and efficiency. We have one more home meet remaining before Divisionals. Nicole has a complete list of volunteers and the shifts that they have completed so far. If you would like to know this information, email her or find her at the meet. If you have not fulfilled your volunteer requirements there are many shifts still available for our last home meet and Divisionals. Please sign up ASAP and fulfill your shifts before it’s too late at www.villageotters.swim-team.us.

WHATS AN INVITATIONAL MEET?
After Divisionals we have 2 such meets: Ponderosa and Trinity (indoor pools with set up inside). It signifies that you are one of the top summer league swimmers and you are “invited” to swim against other top swimmers from the Houston area. Individual events are approx. $5 per event, and awards/medals are given during a ceremony at the end of each day **Qualifying times are posted by each event listing in the heat sheet. If your child qualifies it is listed on the result pages beside your child’s name, place, and time as “PI14, 14TG (gold times), 14TS (silver times).” Full Meet Results are now available under Swim Meets on the website WHAT IS SUMMER CHAMPS? Summer Champs is an Invitational Meet. All swimmers must have a qualifying time and request/pay for event entries. Meet results posted during each dual meet will reflect SC14 next to the name of the swimmers that have qualified. For more information, please see Kristen Reep. She can usually be found in the computer room during home meets.

Water Day to be held the full 2½ hours in place of the swim practices. Friday, June 12th: Divisionals “shout out” ads and money due. Friday, June 12th and 19th: All practices at Elm Grove pool during your regularly scheduled time. Pep Rallies in between practices! Saturday, June 13th: Home meet against Mills Branch/Woodstream. Tuesday, June 16th: Bahama Buck’s Spirit Night from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20th: Divisionals swim meet at Kingwood High School. Thursday, June 25th: Otters Awards Banquet at Elm Grove pool from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 27th & 28th: Ponderosa Invitational Meet and Trinity Summer Classic.

On Tuesday, June 9th, come to Elm Grove Pool for some fun! We will be enjoying water activities in Join the team on Tuesday, June 16th from place of swim practices that day! Water activities 4:00-6:00 p.m. for a well-deserved, summer will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., following the treat for the kids! A percentage of the 7:30 a.m. stroke clinics. Please join us for the full proceeds goes back to the Otters, so be sure time!

Divisionals “Shout Outs” to our Amazing Swimmers! If you would like to give your swimmer a personal shout out in the Divisionals Heat Sheet you need to email the shout out ad to [email protected] and give your payment to a board member by Friday, June 12th. The following are the sizes/costs of your shout out ad: Business card size: $5.00 Quarter page size: $10.00 Half page size: $15.00 Full page size: $25.00 Let’s encourage our kids and our team! PEP RALLY/POSTER CONTEST! All you Otters swimmers put your art skills to work this week! We will hold a poster contest on Friday during the pep rally to see who has created the best Otters poster to hang at the swim meet this Saturday! Ms. Cara will reward the winners with her special prizes! So don’t forget to bring your Otterific posters to the Pep Rally on Friday for judging!

Warm ups start at 1pm The meet starts at 2:30pm. Monday June 8th for 11-18 yr old swimmers. Warm ups start 4pm. The meet starts at 5:30pm
SWIM FAST & GOOD LUCK OTTERS BANQUET Join us for the awards banquet on Thursday, June 25th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Elm Grove pool hosted by our own Chef Daniel! We will have a Luau theme, so come dressed in your Hawaiian attire and enjoy some luau favorites. There will be a small admission fee with details announced in the Ottergram prior to the banquet. We look forward to seeing all of you there!
