The mission of Elevate Your G.A.M.E. is to lift urban students (through mentoring) to higher levels in their Grades, Attendance, and Maturity to Empower them to be leaders who bring about positive change in their schools, communities and the world.

PROGRAM LOCATIONS: Elevate Your G.A.M.E. has conducted mentoring programs at the following sites: Cabrillo High School (Long Beach), Centennial High School (Compton), Compton High School, Dominguez High School (Compton), Harbor Teacher Prep Academy (Wilmington), Long Beach Poly High School and the Northpointe Apartments (Long Beach).
The principal of Compton High School, Gipson Lyles, had a vision for establishing a mentoring program on campus. After appealing to a group of alumni for their support, Michael Freeman answered the call. A few months later on April 13, 2002, Elevate Your G.A.M.E. was born with a kick-off event that matched the first set of mentors with the first set of students. In our first year we mentored 40 students. Today, Elevate Your G.A.M.E. is developing leaders and mentoring students at several locations in urban communities. We have mentored over 1,500 students since we started in 2002 and continue to have a 95 percent graduation rate. Our students have received scholarships and have been accepted to universities across the United States including: Pepperdine, Tuskegee, UCLA, UC Berkley & Xavier. Although Elevate Your G.A.M.E. has had great success, there continues to be a multitude of urban students who do not have the opportunity to participate in this life-changing program. This is why Elevate Your G.A.M.E. is committed to partnering with other organizations until there is a peer-mentoring program on every urban high school campus in America.

MENTORING
SERVICE PROJECTS Teens are given opportunities to develop servantleadership qualities by serving others through various service projects. Service projects have included activities such as wrapping Christmas toys for needy children, feeding the homeless at a shelter and painting schools in Compton. INTERNSHIPS Businesses and government agencies partner with Elevate Your G.A.M.E. to provide internship experiences for the mentees to expose them to various careers. In addition, this provides them opportunities in the “real world” to put into practice what they learn in the mentoring sessions.
