Outdoor Recreation Assistant Time Requirement: 9 Hours Per Week, Scheduling is flexible

Compensation: $15/Hour

Purpose: To provide assistance to the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator as needed. Responsibilities: The Outdoor Recreation Assistant provides program and office aid, perspective, and support to the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator. The Outdoor Recreation Assistant shall assume the following responsibilities:  Maintain and assist in overseeing the inventory and check-in/check-out process for the Outdoor Recreation Program. o Help maintain the GearTrack website and system o Take reservations for equipment o Track frequency of check-out for each item o Report damaged equipment to ORC, clean, and prepare equipment for next renter  Act as a secondary resource to students regarding the general operation of the Outdoor Recreation Program, including cost inquiries, available equipment, and opportunities for participation o Assist in financial transactions between ASSP and recreation participants  Maintain social media presence to promote Outdoor Recreation Program services, opportunities, and connections to information relevant to the program  Report to the ASSP Outdoor Recreation Coordinator and meet with the ORC weekly  Provide additional open hours for the ORP and gear rental  Plan at least one event per quarter – specifically outdoor hiking opportunities spring quarter, and a unique movie showing each year.  Assist and be present at other ORP events and gatherings Qualifications and Experience:  Effective communication skills  Excellent organizational skills and customer service  Experience using Microsoft Excel and the knowledge to apply its capabilities to diligently keep financial records.  Demonstrated passion toward outdoor recreation  Must be knowledgeable or easily trained in the knowledge of the available outdoor equipment, including the functions of the equipment, who the equipment is designed for, fit of the equipment, how the equipment should be used, and in what appropriate situations and locations the equipment may be used  Able to attend unpaid training during the spring quarter prior to the year of service  A minimum 2.75 GPA

Selection and Accountability: The Outdoor Recreation Assistant shall be selected by the new Outdoor Recreation Coordinator, in consultation with the ASSP Vice President elect of Campus Activities and their advisor. The Outdoor Recreation Assistant shall be selected no later than the third week of fall quarter in their year of service The Outdoor Recreation Assistant shall be accountable to and supported by the ASSP ORC, the ASSP VPCA, and their current advisor.
