May 2013 Dear Alumnus, It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is in sight! We have been busy in April, welcoming Jim Lehrer to campus, installing George Mason University’s first members of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and celebrating the 35th anniversary of George Mason’s folklore program. The university has just held a week of events centered on the inauguration of Mason’s sixth president, Ángel Cabrera. The inauguration, which took place on Mason Day, April 26, was a memorable experience, focused on Mason’s Vision and the Mason idea. The Mason idea combines the university’s core characteristics—innovative, diverse, entrepreneurial, and accessibile—that set Mason apart as an institution for the future. We are all part of the Mason idea; you can read more about it here.

And in the coming weeks, please take a look at the college’s website; we’re going to be unveiling the new design soon. Our IT staff has been working hard on it, and we’re anxious to see what you think. Yours in Patriot Pride,
