To establish routines and expectations including the Target Language Consolidation of work done in Year 8 on introductions school and family and friends. To talk about sports. To talk about what you do in your free time. To talk about your favourite things. To justify your opinion about free time activities using weil.

   

To use time phrases to say how often you do something. To be able to ask somebody out. To tell the time and say when you are going to meet To understand information about an adventure sports centre.

   

Grammar: Learning to read long words, Using ‘es gibt’ to say what there is, Using irregular verbs, Understanding the verb has to be the second idea

Grammar: present tense sports. Using gern to say what you like doing. Using ‘sein’ (his) and ‘ihr’ (her)

Grammar: Using ‘möchtest du … ?’ with an infinitive, Using ‘man kann’ to say what activities there are

Formal assessment in writing – Weil homework to enable students to justify opinions. Level 4. February- April Module 5: Mein Zuhause

Assessment- Listening, activities form Levels 1-4 April-May Module 6: Stadt und Land

Formal assessment in reading- Both classes to complete 4 reading questions from a selection (Levels 1-4) June- July Module 6: Stadt und Land

Grammar: Using prepositions to describe where things are. To recognise sentences in the past tense (Level 5)

Grammar: recognising plural forms, transitive and intransitive verbs and modal verbs: man kann.

Assessment- Writing a blog complaining about issues in your home or design a poster to encourage people to take care of their room/home(Levels 4-5) 

Formal assessment in speaking- A weather report in three tenses (level 6)

Grammar: Understanding the difference between ‘du’ and ‘Sie’ Using ‘Ich möchte’ to talk about the future (using simple future tense).

Assessment- Writing a blog about your dream holiday (could be used as a controlled assessment if good enough) or a postcard home. (Levels 4-7)
