Science Curriculum KS3 Y7 In term 1, students will study the following topics: How to be a Scientist: This will give students the basic knowledge of how to perform experiments in a Lab safely Solids, Liquids & Gases: This topic will introduce students to the idea of atoms and particles; the basic building blocks of all matter that makes up the world around us. Cells: This topic will introduce students to biological cells; the basic building blocks of all living organisms. Forces: This topic will introduce students to the basics of Physics and the fundamental forces that exist in our world.
Y8 In term 1, students will study the following topics: Respiration: In this topic students will learn about the structure and function of gas exchange organs in the human body. This will include the acts of diffusion, aerobic and anaerobic respiration. Light & Sound: In this topic students will learn about the nature of behaviour of light and sounds waves. They will explore the things they have in common, their differences and how they are put to use. Chemical Reactions: This topic will introduce students to the idea of atoms and particles; the basic building blocks of all matter that makes up the world around us.
Y9 In term 1, students will study the following topics: Forces, Pressure & Moments: In this topic students will learn about the forces involved in moments, pressure and hydraulics. This will be extended to include atmospheric pressure. Genetics & Evolution: In this topic students will learn about the fundamentals of genetics. This will include DNA, chromosomes and inheritance Earth Science & Materials: In this topic students will learn about the structure and composition of the earth. In addition, students will understand what the composition of the atmosphere.
